A few months ago when I was at my niece's wedding luncheon I was given a little favor box that I found too cute to resist. Being the craft geek that I am, I came home, tore it apart and figured out how to make one of my very own. I posted the results of my adventure HERE.
I also posted it in my gallery over on SCS. Not long thereafter, Beate (the Queen of the Tutorial!) asked me if I would like to do a tutorial for the resource page over on SCS. HECK YES!!! So, on Wednesday this week the results of my labors showed up (there are step-by-step photos/instructions, a video tutorial and a template you can print out):
"All-in-One" Favor Box Tutorial

ReplyDeleteHi Wendy - I've just found you on Splitcoaststampers and thought I'd follow your lovely blog. I've just made this box from your excellent tutorial (great to have the template to print out too) and if I get time, I will photograph/video my efforts tomorrow to go on my blog.
ReplyDeleteWe have been invited to a party tomorrow celebrating a couple being farmers for 50 years. They don't want presents but want a donation to the Air Ambulance, and I thought it would be nice to make a pretty container for our cheque! Hope you'll pop over to my blog at http://shoshiplatypus.blogspot.com in a few days and see what I did with your design! (I'll give you a credit on the video.)
This is such a clever idea! Love it.

Hi again, Wendy! Thank you soooo much for your fabby comment on my blog! I was thrilled to be able to give you a credit for this little box - I always give people credits because I don't want anyone to think it was My Idea! Anyway, there's nothing like spreading the good news around, of other people's lovely blogs (like yours) and it also spreads the joy!
ReplyDeleteThey loved their little box, and yes, it was the only cheque that was so pretty! They had a big donations box from the Air Ambulance people, with a slit in the top, so of course they had to get their cheque out before it could go in the donations box!
I've always loved making boxes - I used to do a lot of 3-D embroidery and fabric boxes (you can see some here: http://s496.photobucket.com/albums/rr328/shoshiplatypus/Embroideries/?start=0 (2 pages) and one embroidery teacher said that all her boxes contained a surprise! Nowadays I tend to concentrate on paper, but the surprise should still be there.
I'm glad I've discovered your blog, which I am now following.
Thanks so much!
Shoshi
Thank you so much for the svg pattern. My sister and I started making them with the paper pattern and were really excited to get the svg. What a time saver.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the SVG! I can't believe how hard I worked making a cut file from your pdf? LOL I did'nt know you had a cut file! Thanks again!
