I Love You, Dad . . .

After years of chronic heart disease and a valiant life well lived, my dear sweet father returned to his heavenly home yesterday. I was looking through some photos on my computer this morning trying to find something that would be suitable for his obituary when I came across this photo of the two of us taken Christmas Day 2007. What a treasure this will be to me, as I didn't think I had any pictures of the two of us together that weren't from when I was 10 years old (as I am usually the one BEHIND the camera). This brought me to tears, yet I am so grateful that I have it, as I will treasure it all my days.

I love you, Dad. Your absence will leave a hole in my heart and you will be missed by so many who loved you dearly. I will always be your little girl . . .

  4. OMGosh Wendy I am so sorry for your loss. I know how it feels I lost my DAD 9/1984 and I still cry for him. I ache for his guidance. I was pregnant to my youngest at the time and couldn't grieve the way I wanted for fear of a miscarriage...Treasure that picture as I do not have one of us together with me as an adult....

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers..

  37. I received a link to your blog through a feed I receive, it listed several blogs to visit for the "Tour de Freak" in which you are participating. I don't know you but my heart breaks for you. I lost my own Daddy almost six years ago. The little girl in me still sobs for him even though the grown-up I now am knows he's in Heaven and no longer suffering with his heart just as your Dad did. Hang onto the wonderful memories such as this beautiful picture. God will give you peace and guide you through this valley. My prayers are with you and your family.

  59. Wendy, I am so sorry for your loss of your Dad. I know your pain as I lost my dear beloved father 6 years ago. I do know that he is where he wanted to be...in heaven with our Lord and all those he loved who had gone on before him. Knowing this gives us comfort but still does not the diminish the loss of not having our dear father in our lives. My sweet memories and the love and support of family and friends sustain you through the coming days. I'll be praying for you and your family to receive the blessings of God's comfrot and peace!

  71. So sorry to hear about your Dad. I still miss mine every day since his passing in 2003. He is with his heavenly father and in no more pain. I do hope you take a small measure of comfort in that - I know I did. My greatest regret with my Dad is that there are very few if any pictures of us together. It breaks my heart when I think of that - and I am so glad that you have that one to hold onto and to treasure. God bless

  80. We lost our Dad (My Mom and my 8 brothers and sisters) on November 4th, 1994....seems like yesterday....seems like forever.

My heart goes out to you. People will tell you times heals all wounds...I do not want to sound mean or crass but that is not true. I miss my Dad just as much as I ever did. I still cry every time I really sit and thing about him....and I think about him every day, but I cry when I really think about him...like when I am in the car by myself just thinking and missing him...to this day. I do not miss him any less, I just don't think about him every minute any more, but I still think about him every day. So that is all time has done for me.

Know that you are not alone....and know that you are in my thoughts and Prayers as I know, that is all I can really do for you.
