BOINNNNGGG! Springin' With the Freaks!!

We're HOPPIN' and EXCITED for Spring to be here!! So the Control Freaks have some really AWESOME Spring-y/Easter-y things to share ... (Did ya SEE the wonderful things created by Barb Mullikin before you hopped my way??? She's FABULOUS!)!

I've been thinking about flowers for weeks ... and I have been THRILLED that they have been poking their beautiful little selves up out of the ground the last little while. So I wanted to do MY share to bring on some MORE flower-y goodness ... Hence, THIS card!!

I actually pulled out BOTH my Fun Flowers and Blossom Party Bigz Dies (one of which I have NEVER used ... the other has only been used ONCE ... how SAD is THAT???)!! They are DEFINITELY going to be getting a LOT of use over the next several months!! HappyDance!!!

Stamps:  A Dozen Thoughts
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz, Brights/Subtles Patterned DSP
Ink:   Tempting Turquoise
Accessories:  Fun Flowers Bigz Die, Blossom Party Bigz Die, Ticket Duo Builder Punch, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Tulip Frame Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Tea Lace Paper Doily

I don't have a LOT of "Easter-y" types of things this year ... and I REALLY wanted to make some Easter eggs ... so I faked 'em with one of my Ovals Framelits Dies ... of course, if you're gonna have EGGS, you gotta have a BUNNY, right???

Stamps: Baby, We've Grown, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Whisper White, Island Indigo, Gingham Garden DSP
Ink: Black Stazon, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Ovals Framelits Dies, Bitty Banners Framelits Dies, Banner Punch, Melon Mambo Taffeta Ribbon, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Tea Lace Paper Doily

Check out the EVER-FANTASTICAL Connie Babbert up next!! LOTS of spring going on there, too!

Springtime and Easter Baskets!

Smiley from millan.netIt seems like the weeks have gone whizzing by lately ... and y'all should SEE my craft room!! It is a DISASTER area!! I haven't really cleaned it up for nearly two months ... I haven't done a lot of crafting, either, so everything I have done in the past two months has remnants of itself piled in one place or the other ... sigh ... I need to find some time to clean this up ... but I'm gonna need a shovel to do so!!

On the good news front ... my mother in law came home from the rehab center on Thursday. She is doing incredibly well ... bones are all knitting nicely, and the thing that she is going to have to work on now is regaining strength and range of motion in her healing upper arm (where her humerus bone shattered). She is such an inspiration. My own sweet mom is going to be headed home from the rehab center on Wednesday. She is thrilled and scared ... she is still on the mend, but they say it may take up to six months for her to regain the strength she had before this episode (and she wasn't all that strong to begin with). But, she IS getting better, so that makes us happy!! My foot is making slow progress, but I am working on massaging/exercising it every day. Patience will win ...

And I am FINALLY posting the long-promised tutorial for the little basket I made for the Control Freaks Blog Tour way back in February ... like I said, no idea where the time went!!

First of all, you are going to need a 6"x6" piece of patterned/designer series paper. Score each side at 2" and 4", so that what you have resembles a tic-tac-toe board. Fold along score lines.

I used my Simply Scored board to help me with my cut lines. I scored a line at 5/8" and 1 3/8" from the top left edge to the first horizontal score line at 2". Flip your paper so that you can do this same thing in each corner of your "tic-tac-toe" board. Snip the score lines so that your paper looks like the image pictured here ...

Next, you will mark the top and bottom center pieces halfway across the top edge (since the section you are marking is 2" wide, mark it at 1"). Then, score a diagonal line from the mark you made to each of the lower corners of the 2" square (which would equate to the top center and bottom center of the "tic-tac-toe" board). Cut the lines so that you have triangle shapes, as shown.

You are now going to take the flaps you made in each corner and overlap them on each other so that the flap that ends up on top (the one on the outer edge of the "board") is parallel with the bottom of the basket. Do the same with the flaps in the other corner.

Once the flaps are secured (I used glue dots), It will look like this photo ... snip the little triangle piece that is sticking out at the top off ...

Punch two 1" circles from coordinating cardstock. Place the punched circles over the top center of the front and the back of the basket.

To create the handles, cut two 1/2" by 6" strips of cardstock or patterned paper. Secure the handles to the basket about 3/4" from the outside edge with a brad.

Embellish the circles with buttons and twine, if you wish!

Fill the basket with treats and adorn the bag with something fun (you knew a butterfly was gonna figure in here sooner or later, didn't ya??)!!

Ta-DA!!! That's it. Really quite easy ... I hope my instructions make sense. Sometimes it is so hard to get what is in your brain into words!!

Paper: Summer Smooches DSP, Whisper White, Lucky Limeage
Accessories: Simply Scored, 1" Circle Punch, Summer Smooches Brads, Bold Brights Button, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, Rhinestone Basics, Cellophane Bag

Have a lovely Easter weekend! Eat some chocolate!! Smiley from millan.net

Freaky Spring Has Sprung!

Welcome to Spring!! (Or at least the Freaky version of it!!) You should have just come from the ever-so-Springy projects of Dawn Olchefske ... I am LOVING the color combos she used with her beautiful daisy garden!! C'mooooon, Spring!!

I kinda had an explosion of pink in my craft room ... after having made this first card, I wanted to make a TOTAL departure and do something absoLUTEly different ... it didn't quite work out how I had planned ...

This Vintage Vogue stamp set is so much fun to create with!! I kinda started stamping and cutting and flowers and couldn't hardly stop myself (yes, I must admit, I am one of those WEIRD ones who actually ENJOY "fussy" cutting ... go figure)!

Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Bring on the Cake
Paper: Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Whisper White
Ink: Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz
Accessories: Framelits Labels Collection, Pear Pizzazz Pleated Satin Ribbon, Pearl Basics, Ticket Corner Punch, Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Folder, Brights Button, Whisper White Baker's Twine

As I stated earlier, this card started out in a COMPLETELY different color combo!! I started with Tempting Turquoise, Black, Crumb Cake and Whisper White ... NOT where I ended up!! Try as I might, I could not get the "vision" of what I had planned in my head to come out onto the paper ... so I just gave in to my inner Pink Princess and let 'er go ....

Stamps: BFF
Paper: Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
Ink: Whisper White, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, Beautiful Wings Embosslits Folder, Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and Edgelits Die, Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon

And ... what the heck ... I just let the pink take over on this one!! I have NO excuse other than I like pink, and pink makes me think of flowers and spring and Easter ... so there!!! This is actually one of those little plastic "goodie" eggs you get for the kids' Easter Baskets (and YES, you CAN open it and fill it with CHOCOLATE-Y goodness). I can't believe I actually had THAT many rhinestones (there are 85 of them on here!!). Faberge' eggs got NOTHIN' on this baby!! (And it is standing in a little EMPTY brad/button container ... way to recycle, baby!)

Paper: Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Nursery Suite DSP
Accessories: Boho Blossom Punch, Rhinestone Basics, Whisper White Satin/Organza Ribbon

Now go and check out Connie Babbert's bunny and birthday box!! Sooooo ca-YOOT!!
