TGIF #334 - Product Challenge - White Gel Pen

This week the TGIF Team is playing with white gel pens! I love what a little bit of white “lining” can do for a card!

Check out the blog challenge here - TGIF Challenge Blog if you’d like to play along.

This one took a while! It took me more than one try to get the look I wanted.

I used some watercolor brushes to paint these pretty sunflowers. First, I used the Sunflower 3D Embossing folder on a piece of Basic White Cardstock. I also distressed the edges of the cardstock with the edge of one of the blades of my paper snips.

The watercolor brushes were either dipped in a little bit of reinker or, for the colors I didn’t have any reinker for, I just dragged the tip of the watercolor brushes over the stamp pads of the color I wanted to use.

After I was done “painting” the sunflowers, I added some lines and dots using a white gel pens. I also used a Black Journaling Pen to lightly trace around and through the sunflowers to make them pop a little more.

Stamps: More Messages
Paper: Whisper White, Peach Pie, Mossy Meadow, Soft Sea Foam
Ink: Berry Burst, Peach Pie, Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight, Pecan Pie, Mossy Meadow, Soft Sea Foam, White Gel Pen, Black Stampin’ Journaling Pen
Accessories:  Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder, Mixed Labels Dies, Low Profile Sparkle Gems

Another summer weekend ahead with NO major things I HAVE to do or places I HAVE to go! That rarely happens, so I plan to enjoy it!

We’d love to have you play along!! You can check us out our blog HERE and Instagram … lots of great inspiration from the rest of the TGIF Crew!

Mixed Florals and DSP

If you have hung out on my blog for any amount of time you have probably heard me mention that I love to fussy cut. For some reason I just find it very relaxing! I knew looking at this tulip image from Mixed Florals that I absolutely HAD to cut and paper piece the elements of the image.

I tried using some patterned paper for the leaves,  but nothing looked quite right!

In the end I decided to just color the long leaves and stems with my Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. I also shadowed the images with a little bit of Pool Party.

I stamped the tulips portion of this image on a piece of DSP from the Floral Delight DSP. The small blue flowers are stamped on and cut out of a piece of paper from Everyday Happiness DSP. I love how happy the flowers look!

I did a couple of staggered layers on top of the card base … one of which is also from Everyday Happiness. And once again, of course, I distressed the edges with my paper snips and “flicked” some Lost Lagoon ink using one of my Stampin’ Blends.

The sentiment and little label shape came from the Mixed Florals stamp set. I love both of these sets so much!

Stamps: Mixed Florals, Mixed Labels
Paper: Basic White, Everyday Happiness DSP, Floral Delight DSP
Ink: Memento Black, Lost Lagoon; Stampin’ Blends - Lost Lagoon, Granny Apple Green, Pool Party
Accessories: Mixed Labels Dies, Muted Palette Dots

It’s amazing how much stamping I get to do since I did more of a “deep clean” on my craft room. It’s more fun when you have a bigger space on your table than just a 6-inch square!

Stampin’ Fancy Friday - Online Exclusives Challenge

This month for the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Challenge we got to pick from our favorite Online Exclusives. THAT was hard! I have SO many … but I finally settled on the Sunrise Sailing Bundle.

I chose to go with a slimline card this time - dimensions are 3.5” x 8.5”. I used my Simply Scored Tool to add some vertical lines to the background panel. I haven’t used that for a while … I need to pull it out more!

The sailboats were created using the cute little dies from Sunrise Sailing. The backdrops for the sailboats consist of a little portion of the wave die and a cute little square made using the Perennial Postage Dies embossed using the 3D Dotted Circle Embossing Folder.

The sentiment is from the Sunrise Sailing Stamps and cut out with one of the Stylish Shapes Dies.

This came together rather quickly and easily … and I LOVE when that happens, don’t you??

Stamps: Sunrise Sailing
Paper: Basic White, Real Red, Lemon Lolly, Coastal Cabana
Ink: Coastal Cabana
Accessories: Sunrise Sailing Dies, Perennial Postage Dies, Stylish Shapes Dies, 3D Dotted Circle Embossing Folder, Ombré Matte Decorative Dots (retired), Simply Scored Tool

Monday Montage - Storybook Garden Patch

Woot! Woot! Monday Montage Time is here again … I always love this hop as everyone who participates always inspires me to try new things!

Pretty sure I have bought every single stamp set/bundle that Stampin’ Up has put out highlighting fruit since I started almost 25 years ago. Veggies, too! I just love them!

I colored several little bunches of strawberries from Storybook Garden Patch using my Stampin’ Blends. Lucky for me there is a coordinating die, so cutting them out was super slick.

I also stamped and cut out some flower pots from the same set and highlighted them with a little bit of Pecan Pie using Blends again.

I used a blending brush and some Granny Apple Green to create a soft background. Once I had “colored” the background I then did the flicking trick with my Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. I also used a watercolor brush to drip and flick bits of water onto the background to give more depth and texture.

Once again, I used my paper snips to rough of the edges of the Granny Apple Green layer.

I also used one of the frame dies from Storybook Friends to highlight the center image and sentiment.

Stamps: Storybook Garden Patch, Storybook Friends
Paper: Basic White, Pecan Pie
Ink: Black Memento, Real Red, Granny Apple Green; Stampin’ Blends - Pecan Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Poppy Parade, Lemon Lolly, Granny Apple Green, Gray Granite
Accessories: Storybook Garden Patch Dies, Storybook Friends Dies, Low Profile Sparkle Dots

This is probably one of my favorite cards I had made lately. I guess I never got over liking to color … it’s so cathartic for me!

TGIF #533 - Sketch Challenge

Happy Friday! And on Friday it’s time for a new TGIF Challenge!

This week we are working with this sketch. I’m particularly fond of sketch challenges as I feel like sometimes I do the “same old thing” when it comes to layout.

Check out the blog challenge here - TGIF Challenge Blog if you’d like to play along.

I did absolutely ZERO stamping on this one. The 4”x5.25” layer of Very Vanilla has a few things going on. I roughed up the edges with the side of one of the blades from a pair of snips.

I then used the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder to add some texture.

Lastly, I used a Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blend and flicked some ink on it to give it the look of a “muddy trail” … and the elements I used from the Weekend Adventures DSP and Sticker Sheet.

I tore a couple of different pieces of Weekend Adventures DSP to create the lower left corner elements.

The checkered ribbon was tied with some Linen Thread that I braided.

The sentiment and cute boot print were both from the Weekend Adventures sticker sheet. How fun are they??

Stamps:
None!
Paper: Very Vanilla, Weekend Adventures DSP
Ink: Stampin’ Blends - Pecan Pie
Accessories: Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder, Black & Very Vanilla 3/8” Large Checked Ribbon, Linen Thread, Adhesive Backed Metallic Gems

I’ve been having so much fun with DSP the last month or so. Stampin’ Up has SOOOO much really good options available right now!

We’d love to have you play along!! You can check us out our blog HERE and Instagram … lots of great inspiration from the rest of the TGIF Crew!

Hand Stamped Sentiments - Sketch Challenge #467

Today I’m doing something NEW! I’m playing along with Hand Stamped Sentiments! I’ve never participated in one of their challenges before, so I am pretty excited about it!

If yo would like to participate as well, check it out here:

I had this little bunch of strawberries that I had colored for another card last week (which I haven’t posted yet, apparently!). I decided to use it to build the card for this sketch.

The DSP is from Storybook Moments. There isn’t a single piece of paper in that package that I don’t love!

Most of this card came together pretty quickly. With the exception of fussy cutting the “a happy day” sentiment that had been heat embossed, nothing in this card was too labor intense.

Actually … that may not entirely be true. I made the braid out of double strands of White Baker’s Twine! I used six strands divided into twos to make the braid. Simple but fun!

Stamps: Linked Together, Storybook Friends
Paper: Basic White, Misty Moonlight, Basic Beige, Storybook Moments DSP
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Berry Burst; Stampin’ Blends - Pool Party, Berry Burst, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Linked Together Dies, Textured Notes Dies, 3D Eyelet Embossing Folder, White Embossing Powder, White Baker’s Twine, Low Profile Sparkle Dots

I’ll be back tomorrow with another card that showcases a different package of DSP … totally love it!

Textured Notes

I seem to get stuck on the same color combos … over and over again. I have really been trying to step outside of my “go to” color box and try some new things. Here is one of those attempts.

Azure Afternoon - I’m going to be honest. I have been VERY drawn to this color from the moment I first saw it, but I haven’t used it tons!

I started with a 3.75” x 5” piece of Basic White cardstock. I then used one of the images from Textured Notes to create a patterned piece of paper. Azure Afternoon ink stamped all around the edges of the cardstock.

The layer on top of that is made from one of the dies in the Textured Notes Dies. After cutting it out I then used one of the Glass and Garden Embossing folders on it. I also stamped the same image from the previous layer in Balmy Blue.

The little rattan circle image from the same stamp set is soooo pretty. I stamped it in Crumb Cake and then proceeded to tear around the edge of the image. I attached it to the cardstock and then tucked the little branch sprigs from the Mixed Labels Dies in and around it.

The image on the top is also from Textured Notes, stamped in Azure Afternoon. I fussy cut this one … no die for it and I actually LOVE to fussy cut! I little bit of ribbon, linen thread and a few little dots and I was done!

Stamps: Textured Notes
Paper: Basic White, Azure Afternoon, Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake
Ink: Azure Afternoon, Balmy Blue, Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Textured Notes Dies, Mixed Labels Dies, Glass and Gardens Embossing Folder, Lined Thread, White 1/4” Diagonal Trim, Linen Thread, Pecan Pie Adhesive Backed Dots (retired)

What colors are YOUR favorites?? I am going to continue to try and give some love to some underused colors in my stash!

TGIF #532 - Color Challenge

It’s TGIF Challenge Time!

Bright and bold and beautiful! This week’s color challenge is all of those things! It has been a while since I’ve made something with so many bright colors together. It took my brain a while to wrap around what I wanted to do, but once I started it was kinda fun!

Check out the blog challenge here - TGIF Challenge Blog if you’d like to play along.

Cute! Cute! Cute! That’s what I think of these Darling Dinos. My goal was to try and do something a little different.

I started with the Perennial Postage Dies. I used one of the largest dies to create the Basic Black layers. I cut it out and then cut it in half and put it on either side of the card. I then layered some Coastal Cabana, Berry Burst and Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Only the Coastal Cabana layer was cut without using a die.

I also used the Turtle Textures Embossing Folder to add dimension to the Basic White card base and the Pumpkin Pie layers.

I colored the adorable little triceratops using Light and Dark Pool Pary Stampin’ Blends, as well as some Berry Burst and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends to color the accents on the dino and the balloons.

Basic White Baker’s Twine was used for the ballon strings and I accented the panels with a few Basic Black Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems.

Lastly, the sentiment panel was another one of the Perennial Postage Dies turned 90 degrees to make it a diamond instead of a square.

Stamps: Darling Dinos
Paper: Basic White, Coastal Cabana, Berry Burst, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Berry Burst; Stampin’ Blends - Pool Party, Berry Burst, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: Perennial Postage Dies Darling Dinos Dies, Turtle Textures Embossing Folder, Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems

Happy 4th of July to my friends in the good old U S of A. Hope you spent it eating food, laughing with family and friends and watching some pretty fireworks!

We’d love to have you play along!! You can check us out our blog HERE and Instagram … lots of great inspiration from the rest of the TGIF Crew!

Monday Montage - Perfectly Pairs

It’s Monday so that can only mean one thing … Monday Montage! Once again, the girls are bringing the fire!!

Every. Single. Element. I mean it! Every single product in the Perfectly Pairs Suite is, well … PERFECT!

The DSP - Painterly Pears - is GORRRRRGEOUS!!! Each and every sheet is a work of art!

The dies are awesome (don’t ya love the little crosshatch bit??)! The embellishments are beautiful! The ribbon … which I didn’t end up using on this particular card … is beautiful!!

To stamp the pears, I used Darling Duckling and Mellow Moss. I stamped first with the Darling Duckling and then used a sponge dauber tapped in Mellow Moss to add dimension. The leaves were colored with Mellow Moss Stampin’ Blends and Soft Suede.

I kinda like to layer … a LOT! I used the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder for the Basic White layer. I also cut a frame using the Sentimental Framing Dies.

I also put criss-cross strips of the lovely DSP behind the frame but on top of the Basic White layer. Sigh … I love these elements soooo much!

Stamps: Perfectly Pairs
Paper: Basic White, Darling Duckling, Painterly Pears DSP
Ink: Soft Sea, Darling Duckling, Mossy Meadow; Stampin’ Blends - Mossy Meadow, Pecan Pie
Accessories: Perfectly Pairs Dies, Sentimental Framing Dies, Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder, Low Profile Sparkle Dots

This one was super fun to put together! What’s your new favorite product??

Our Monday Montage Hop has gone exclusively to Instagram! You can check it out by finding me @tinkermom85. From there you will be able to find all of my Monday Montage Friends, too!

TGIF Challenge #531 - Theme Challenge

Happy Friday! TGIF!!

This week’s challenge is a theme challenge. The photo to the left is from the Welcome Garden Kit. Isn’t it cute??? We were tasked with coming up something evoking a garden gate. Pretty fun, right??

Let’s get at it!

Check out the blog challenge here - TGIF Challenge Blog if you’d like to play along.

This card came about from an absolute mishmash of products! The little garden gate was created using dies from Notes & Totes and Everyday Arches. The leaves came from Mixed Labels Dies and the flowers came from Impressions Abloom Dies. I used the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder for the “garden-y” background. And the sentiment came from the Arched Wishes stamp set.

The Mossy Meadow & Gold Trim as well as the Low Profile Sparkle Dots both came from the soon-to-be-released Painted Pears suite. So this card truly is a little of this and a little of that!

Stamps: Arched Wishes
Paper: Basic White, Soft Sea Foam, Highland Heather, Fresh Freesia, Gorgeous Grape, Mossy Meadow
Ink: Gorgeous Grape
Accessories: Notes and Totes Dies, Impressions Abloom Dies, Mixed Labels Dies, Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder, Low Profile Sparkle Dots, Mossy Meadow & Gold 1/4” Trim

Our family is heading up to Bear Lake for the weekend … one of our favorite summer getaways!
