Monday Montage #235

I reaaaallly need to reorganize, purge, clean and sort my craft room ... I have waaaayyy too much stuff ... and I have a TON of stuff that has just ended up there even though it has no business being in a craft room! It's hard to get motivated to do something that you don't really want to do, isn't it??

A few more new toys were used to make this week's Monday Montage Creation.  The Elegant Borders Dies ... YES!  The Stamped With Love Stamp Set ... YES! The Countryside Corner Dies ... YES-YES!! I also used the Tropical Leaf Punch and Stamps again (online exclusives). I like them a LOT!

I have always been a fan of Pool Party ... it is just such a lovely color! It works for so many different types of images.

Stamps: Stamped With Love, Tropical Leaf
Paper: Whisper White
Ink: Black Memento, Pool Party; Stamping Blends - Smoky Slate, Pool Party
Accessories: Tropical Leaf Punch, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Elegant Borders Dies, Countryside Corners Dies

Here's a blog roll just in case you get "stuck" trying to hop around ...

Wish me luck ... I'm going to start to make a DEEP DIVE into my craft room and try to put it back into shape. I think if I set a timer for an hour and just go do it a little at a time, I will get there before I know it!

Control Freak Sketchin'!

We are getting sketchy with the Control Freaks this month!  Cindy Elam did an AMAZING job, as usual!! I pulled out some new stamps, paper, ribbon AND gems to play with ... so let's get started!

LOTS of pieces going on here ... I love a good sketch challenge!!

So. Much. Pink! I am so totally SMITTEN with the new Bubble Bath (core color) and Moody Mauve (2023-2025 In Color) shades of pink!! They are both sooooo good! The cupcake and flowers (along with the sentiment) are from a new set (available next month) called "Circle Sayings" ... such a good combo with the Online Exclusive 3D Embossing Folders, right???

Up close and personal ...

Stamps: Circle Sayings
Paper: Bubble Bath, Moody Mauve, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Whisper White
Ink: Moody Mauve
Accessories: 2 3/8" Circle Punch, 2023-2025 In Color Gems, Basics 3D Embossing Folders, Moody Mauve Ribbon, Stapler

I saw some forsythia bushes that had actually turned YELLOW!! We have been sooooo sloooow to get to spring, but it looks like it is finally coming (although it was only 37 degrees this morning!!)!

Next up? Bree Renwick! LOVE the color combo she chose!

Monday Montage #234

Hallelujah!! We haven’t had any new snow of substance for the past two weeks!! We had one day when we got upon to 82 degrees!! (And then it dropped to 35 degrees about two days later!) Looks like we are on our way to more sunny days … and I couldn’t be happier about it!

My 2023-2024 Catalog Preorder arrived a few days ago … so much pretty paper! LOTS of new colors and some returning favorites! I used some of the returning Lemon Lime Twist to make a background for this adorable “Little Monkey”. I knew he was going to have to come and stay at my house! My grandnephew LOVES the “5 Little Monkeys” song I taught him back in February.  His mom and dad say he walks around the house shouting “Snap that Monkey” all the time! I think he is going to get this card in the mail!

See what I mean??? This little monkey is totally ADORBS!! I will be getting a LOT of use out of him!

Stamps: Little Monkey
Paper: Whisper White, Lemon Lime Twist, Lemon Lolly, Very Vanilla
Ink: Black Memento; Stamping Blends - Crumb Cake, Granny Apple Green
Accessories: Raindrops Embossing Folder, 2 3/8” Circle Punch, 2023-2025 In Color Dots, 3/8” Gingham Ribbon

Monday Montage #233

“It’s gonna be cold, I t’s gonna be gray, and it’s gonna last you for the rest of your life.” DANG that groundhog!! We are still getting snow even when the forecast isn’t predicting it!! I would be handling it MUCH better if I could see some occasional blue skies and feel some sun! DOUBLE DANG! I know it will happen eventually … I think … I hope!

Meanwhile … here’s a card I made a few weeks back and never got around to posting (my life!)! I really love the color scheme, although I can’t seem to find the DSP in my craft room (also, my life!)! I know it’s there … I will find it and post the name of it shortly! (I found it! It is called "Fitting Florets" ... and it was only available as an online exclusive back in December/January!)

I sponged the Whisper White background layer with some Blushing Bride ink. I love how it gives it a bit of a watercolor effect. I also distressed the edges of the DSP strip with the edge of a pair of scissors …

Stamps: Framed Florets
Paper: Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Fitting Florets DSP
Ink: Blushing Bride, Versamark, Black Memento; Stamping Blends - Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Mellown Moss, Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink
Accessories:  Framed Florets Dies, Whisper White Frayed Ribbon, White Baker’s Twine, White Embossing Powder, Solid Faceted Gems

Here's a blog roll just in case you get "stuck" trying to hop around ...

Gonna go put on my snow boots and walk to work (again!) because I just don’t have the energy to scrape my windshields off once work is over today (again!)!

TGIF #413 - Product Challenge - Vellum Overlay

I’m not gonna bore you with a snow report (stupid groundhog!) … because it feels like that is all I have to report … ever … and ever … At least my snow boots have felt the love this year! This week's product TGIF Challenge is using vellum as an overlay. Let’s get to it!

I will always and forever be obsessed with all things polka dot. Always. And forever. And I am praying-praying-praying that Granny Apple Green survives the color refresh which will be released by Stampin’ Up soon. It is my fave right now! In used Versamark/embossing powder to create the leaves I stamped on vellum. The Tropical Leaf Punch came in VERY handy for all of my larger leaves! I did some fussy cutting on the smaller leaves … which I didn't mind at ALL sinced I find it kind of relaxing! I frayed the White Frayed Ribbon (which sounds kinda bizarre!), but I love the dimension it added behind the Polished Pink bow.

Up close and personal you can see how smashingly the little pink Frosted Dots compliment the Polished Pink bow … they are also a must have and part of our Online Exclusives!

Stamps: Tropical Leaf
Paper: Whisper White, Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Vellum
Ink: Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Versamark
Accessories:  Tropical Leaf Punch, Loose Frosted Dots, White 3/4” Frayed Ribbon, Polished Pink 3/8” Open Weave Ribbon, Basic 3D Embossing Folder, White Embossing Powder

I walked to work today (which is easy for me since it is only a few blocks from my house)! Seemed easier than having to remove several inches of snow from my car at the end of the day!

Colorful Freaks!

I have been participating in the Control Freaks Blog Tour since 2009 (NOT kidding!) and I can’t remember the last time we did an old fashioned color challenge … so here we go! Cindy Elam NAILED it with two GORGEOUS floral creations!! If you haven’t seen them, make sure to check 'em out!

Aren’t these colors just yummy together??? They are just SCREAMING spring to me!!

" />

I am RIDICULOUSLY enamored with the Ready Rhino Stamp Set/Dies … AND the Basic 3D Embossing Folders … BOTH of which are Online Exclusives right now! I have always had a “thing” for all things hippo and rhino. What’s NOT to love, right??

CuteCuteCUTE, right??!!??

Stamps: Ready Rhino
Paper: Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Greem, Highland Heather, Whisper White, Early Espresso
Ink: Black Memento, Versamark; Stampin’ Blends - Balmy Blue
Accessories: Rhinon Dies, Stylish Shapes Dies, Metallic Pearls, Basic 3D Embossing Folder, White Embossing Powder

If we didn’t actually need 2-3 more winters with the INSANE amount of rain/snow that we have had this year I would be kinda whiny about the forecast facing us here in Utah this week … rain, rain and MORE rain! First day of spring is almost here, and we seem to be on winter overdrive! I hope our house doesn’t end up underwater once all the snow in the mountains starts melting its way down!

Next up? Bree Renwick! She created a LOVELY “Ode” to spring AND Easter!

Monday Montage #232

I'm still holding out hope that spring is going to start showing its pretty little head. Mother Nature seems to have other ideas, as snow storm after snow storm keep feeling one another into the Salt Lake Valley. DEFINTELY what we need for our current state of drought .... but I am really starting to craaaaave me some flowers and sunshine!

The Detailed Desert Dies bring to mind to me the many lovely handmade Southwest rugs we have acquired through our business for our customers. These Native-American creations often contain dark reds, deep blues and blacks, accented with tans and creams.  So, I couldn't help myself as a made a more masculine and a more feminine card in this color scheme.

Up close on the masculine card you can see the crosshatch pattern from the Basic 3D Embossing Folder on the Tahitian Tide and Vanilla Layers ... I sponged the Vanilla layer with a little bit of Cajun Craze ink.

Stamps: Delicate Desert
Paper: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Tahitian Tide Cajun Craze
Ink: Cajun Craze
Accessories:  Desert Details Dies, Basic 3D Embossing Folder, Linen Thread, Natural Finish 7/8" Ribbon, Blue Rhinestones, Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots

TGIF #409 - Layered Shapes

SNOWMAGEDDON! OhMyGosh!! We have had soooo much snow this week! And it is snowing AGAIN right now!! Good thing I have been forced to rest from a little procedure I had done at the foot doc on Tuesday. Brrrrr! This week's TGIF Challenge is all about shapes … and how we layer them!

I think “Deckled” edged scissors were one of my very first paper craft-y tool purchases (about a zillion years ago!)! I’ve always loved that look. I was super stoked when Stampin’ Up came out within these Deckled Rectangle Dies last year … LoveLoveLove! And polka dot embossing??? YES PLEASE!!! I felt like this needed a little bit of “frillinous” … hence the peek of Sea Foam Green and the Eden Dies (which I am also OBSESSED with!)!!!

C’mon Spring! I know you are out there (despite what that dang groundhog said!)! These colors are getting me in the mood for sunshine and flowers!

Stamps: Classic Letters
Paper: Whisper White, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, Soft Sea Foam
Ink: Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green
Accessories:  Alphabet A La Mode Dies, Deckled Rectangle Dies, Eden Dies, Loose Frosted Dots, White Baker’s Twine, Basic 3D Embossing Folder

Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend (if only it had more days in it, right?)!!

Monday Montage #231

Since this is my second blog post in the last few hours, I will keep it short and sweet!

I long ago decided that green was my favorite color. And Granny Apple Green ranks right at the top of my most favorite shades of green! How bright and cheerful it makes everything! I fussy cut and paper pieced the “rolling hills” in the main image I used from “Better Days”. I love how well it pairs with Pacific Point! A little accent of Mango Melody for the sun makes me smile!

This came together more quickly than I expected it to. Sometimes I actually can do something without too much fuss!

Stamps: Better Days
Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Basic Black, Garden Green, Old Olive, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Dandy Designs DSP
Ink: Memento Black, Versamark
Accessories:  Deckled Rectangles Dies, Into the Clouds Embossing Folder, Black & White Gingham Ribbon, Pastel Adhesive Backed Sequins
