Monday Montage #241

 

Welcome to another week with the Monday Montage Crew! I'm sharing a card I made when I was visiting my bestie, Bree Renwick, in Walla Walla last month. Isn't it fun to have crafty friends who share their stash with you??? If only we lived closer together!!

I have always found paper piecing very relaxing! I knew I wanted to make these adorable little pencils from Everyday Thanks really pop off the page. Bright colors did the trick! I also used the Basic Borders Dies to make the cute little zigzagged accent stripes. 

I used Stampin' Write markers to flick little splashes of color on the background. You need to check out the Radiating Stitches Dies in the Online Exclusives, too! They are fast becoming a new favorite of mine!

Stampin' Fancy Friday - Case a Fancy Friend!

I am so excited that I can finally share this card (that I made over a month ago!) with you guys! I had sooooo much fun creating this card with a technique that I have never tried before!! Using both Stampin' Blends, reinkers and some alcohol on a sheet of vellum I was able to create this super-cool background!

I used some White Baker's Twine to tie off some 3/4" Whisper White Herringbone ribbon in several spots.  I then frayed the Baker's Twine to give it sort of a "floating seaweed" look. The turtle is so pretty, don't you think??

TGIF #431 - Sunny Days!

Whoosh! I've been out of town TWICE since last Friday, so I'm not sure what day it is!! Welcome to this week's TGIF Challenge!  What makes you think of a "Sunny Day"?? For me, it's fresh fruit by the bushel loads!

I combined some images from Hello Kiwi and made a little homemade DSP with some Memento Black Ink and the Berry Harvest Background Stamps! Bright and colorful and fruity ... yep! Now I want to EAT it!! 

To get the different shades of berries, I stamped the detailed outline of them in Blackberry Bliss and Berry Burst. I then stamped the "filler" stamps in Berry Burst (which I also stamped off), and Bubble Bath, I tore the bottom edges from each layer of patterned paper  to add texture and give the card an overall mix of texture. Embossing the top layer using one of the Basic Embossing Folders and wrapping the card with Sweet Sorbet and Lemon Lime Twist Ribbons helped me complete my vision for this card. A few little In Color Pearls were used to finish it off!

Monday Montage #240

 

Holy HOT Summer Days!! Our temp got to at LEAST 102 degrees F on Sunday! I think I melted a wee bit! I am really enjoying and appreciating summer this year because (a) our winter laster for-ev-er and (b) after over 30 years in our 103-year-old house we have WORKING and EFFICIENT air conditioning!! It's AMAZING!! And it's also time for Monday Montage!!

Here I am again using my new favorite tackle box die from the "Gone Fishing" dies! It's so fun to use as a collage frame.  I paired it here with the "Cheerful Daisies" Stamps and Dies.  I used both Fresh Freesia and Bubble Bath ink to create the flower petals and some Lemon Lolly to created the centers. Daisies and sunflowers are my most favorite flowers. They just make me happy!!

The texture in the background from one of the Basic Embossing Folders (this one with polka dots) is what I call the perfect combo!

The upside to having warmer weather is that my garden is going like gangbusters!! I shall have tomatoes and peppers coming out my ears within the week; I also have a beautiful herb garden; AND I shall have pumpkins galore by the time Halloween rolls around! We may not get much by way of cantaloupes and artichokes, but we made an attempt!

Monday Montage #239

 

It's Monday Montage time again ... and I just got back from a quick trip up to Bear Lake for the 4th of July weekend! LOOOOVE me some lake time with the fam!

I completely reworked this card twice! I used some watercolor paper with some Real Red and Azure Afternoon blends and an Aqua Painter. I then stamped the musical bars in Memento black ink over the top of the watercolor wash. I ended up cutting the panel up with the Stylish Shapes dies (in addition to the other pieces in Real Red, Azure Afternoon and Lemon Lolly.

I did some ink "flicking" with my Real Red and Night of Navy Stampin Right Markers to add a little more dimention.

TGIF #427 - Bonus Inspiration Challenge - Beach Party!

It's Friday again, so that means it's time for TGIF Challenge!  This week we are having a beach party, so grab your towel, swimsuit and snacks

I was up in Walla Walla last weekend visiting my BFF Bree Renwick (who also happens to be a fellow TGIF friend!). One of the fun things about visiting other stampers is that you get to play with their stash of goodies! I had so much fun playing with the So Refreshing stamp set and dies! I feel like the beach is the PERFECT place to enjoy a pitcher of fresh lemonade, don't you?? All that was missing was a an umbrella! This set is seriously adorable and pairs perfectly with the Sweet Citrus Embossing folder!

I used the edge of one of the blades on my paper snips to rough up the edges of the Whisper White and Bubble Bath layers ... I love the distressed look!

Monday Montage #238

 

Happy Monday Montage! So glad you have stopped by! The girls have created some terrifically fun cards this week, so let's get started!!

I used the "tackle box" die from "Gone Fishing". I see sooo many different ways to use this fun die! My father in law is NOT a fisherman ... in any way, shape or form! I could see a "collage" every time I looked at the tackle box die, and the accompanying DSP is just soooo dang great!!

I then decided I wanted to add the great little bicycle die from the "Fun On Wheels" bundle.

If you look closely you can see that I used my Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blend to flick some speckles onto the sentiment panel. I got a little overzealous and ended up with a kinda chunky blob next to the "H" in Happy! On second look, I decided I actually liked it, so it stayed! I roughed up the edges of that same panel with my paper snips.

TGIF #425 - Life is Better in Flip Flops - Technique Challenge

I'm back!! I spent some time with Lux Choral Society in the Pacific Northwest last week (a choir my son is in - sooo much fun!)! It has taken me several days to get back to "normal" ... why do we always need a vacation after we come home from a vacation??? Check out the TGIF Challenge challenge blog to see what the Team creatively produced this week!

I really have been wanting to dig into this Share a Milkshake bundle since the day I saw it in the new catalog! This was the absolutely PERFECT set to use to create a card with a "flipflop" element.  It has been FOREVER since I made a card of this ilk ... I had forgotten how satisfying it feels!

Here's a closeup! This is a basic A2 size card ... to create the "flipflop" element all you need to do is for the front panel back halfway (at the 2 1/8" mark). It then creates a "Z-fold". Super easy and super fun!

Here it is all opened up. I used the dies to make the hearts on the right side and the stamps to add the little ones on the left side. This one makes me happy!

TGIF Challenge #423 - Color Challenge

I think I have the right challenge on the correct Friday this time! YAY ME!! Hop one over to the TGIF Challenge challenge blog to see what the Team has created with this fun color combo challenge!

Songbirds and eyelet lace frames ... a most PERFECT combination, if you ask me! I created the frame by using the Darling Details Dies, and then filled the frame with images I cut, stasmped and punched from the Sweet Songbird Bundle. With a little bit of Linen Thread and a few In Color Pearls this little birdie looks quite comfy on that branch!

This really is a sweet little songbird. I loved punching out the wing and belly on this cute little body to add some extra dimension to him.

Crazy season has begun! I'm headed up to the PNW with my son's choir ... and to visit my daughter, and to visit some cousin who were just visiting us in SLC. I LOOOVE seeing my family!

Here we are again ... it's time for the Monday Montage girls to share some fun new creations with you! These girls are ON FIRE!!!

Tappity-tap-tap-tap! And just like that I made a fun card from the new Just My Type stamp set (along with some help from the Countryside Contours Dies). And let's not forget the fun spiral die that is included in the Gorgeously Made Dies! This one came together pretty easily ... sometimes I get lucky!! 

I added a couple of the images from the Just My Type set to the Coastal Cabana cardstock behind the main images ... it's pretty cute, right??
