Monday Montage - Feeling Winter Vibes

Here we go again … it’s time for the Monday Montage Crew to show you what they’ve got! I have finally caved in and decided to let winter creativity take over!

I did a cross between a winter storm and some Christmas ornaments.

I used the snowflake die from One of a Kind and punch an image with it. Then, I used the snowflake as a mask to create the background using a blending brush and some Balmy Blue, Azure Afternoon and Night of Navy ink.

I used my water painter to flick some water droplets onto the background. Hard to tell from the photo, but I added little spots of Wink of Stella to different areas of the background to add some sparkle.

Using some dies from Spotlight On Nature to create the round ornaments then added the snowflakes and a some Tinsel Gems to finish them off.

Stamps: One of a Kind
Paper:  Basic White, Night of Navy, Azure Afternoon
Ink: Balmy Blue, Azure Afternoon, Night of Navy
Accessories: One of a Kind Dies, Spotlight On Nature Dies, Tinsel Gems, Basic White Baker’s Twine, Wink of Stella

Our bathroom has been under construction (major remodel … house was built in 1920!) since the first part of August. And on it goes … so we are NOT hosting Thanksgiving at our house. We are still brining/smoking the turkey, and I’m making stuffing, cranberry sauce and some pies to take to my brother and sister in law’s home. MAYBE I will have a working sink/bathtub and/or toilet by this weekend. But I’m not holding my breath!

TGIF Challenge #500! - Let’s Tear It Up!

HOLY 500, BATMAN!!! Today is officially the 500th TGIF Challenge Hop! Can you believe that??? I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to be part of this group of creative, kind and amazing crafters!

This week we are going with a technique challenge … one that has made the rounds (it was all the rage over 20 years ago when I started this crazy papercrafting journey and is making a comeback now … not that it ever totally went away!)!!

The only thing I actually stamped on this card is the sentiment, which is from “One of a Kind”. The rest is all DSP, paper tearing, ink flicking and die cutting!

I used a combo of Basic White with DSP from Country Woods AND Reindeer Days to create the torn layers. I always love it when shapes on the DSP can easily be cut with dies that accompany the suite/bundle. Isn’t the little reindeer adorable??

I created the “medallion” using a die from Reindeer days that I cut out a second time with a die from Spotlight On Nature.

I added a little more texture by flicking some ink using a Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend. And the little adhesive-backed peppermints just make my heart happy!

Stamps: One of a Kind
Paper: Basic White, Country Woods 12x12 DSP, Reindeer Days 12x12 DSP
Ink: Real Red; Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend
Accessories: Reindeer Days Dies, Spotlight On Nature Dies, So Swirly Embossing Folder, Peppermint Adhesive-Backed Dots, Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine

We’d love to have you play along … and look forward to the next 500 challenges!! You can check us out our blog HERE and Instagram … lots of great inspiration from the rest of the TGIF Crew!

Monday Montage - Autumn Vibes with Changing Leaves

It's a BEAUTIFUL fall day outside ... the temps are in the 60's and the air is crisp and clear! The Monday Montagers are back with some gorgeous creations for you to get inspired by!

I was looking around Pinterest for some inspiration (as one does!) and came across three different cards that spoke to me! This card is a definite mashup, for sure! Using dies from both Changing Leaves and Spotlight On Nature, I created a "medallion" of sorts to attach to the front "flap" of my card (I cut 2" off the bottom of the front of the card to create the flap, then added the "medallion" to it). I haven't done a card like this in AGES!

Up close you ca see that I used the same DSP on the background that I used for the sentiment just to shake things up a bit.

The Forever Plaid 3D Embossing folder is used on both the "medallion" and the inside of the card.

Peek a boo! See??? The largest circle dies from Spotlight On Nature were used as both the base of the "medallion" and the panel for the sentiment. Easy peasy!

Stamps: More Than Autumn
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Pebbled Path, Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake
Ink: Pebbled Path, Pecan Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Perennial Postage Dies, More Than Autumn Dies, Blooming Pearls, Natural 3/8” Polka Dot Trim

The Las Vegas Half Marathon last weekend was great (except for when we had to run into a headwind with rain blowing in our faces!)! My knee is doing pretty well ... still being careful and waiting for it to feel back to "normal", but it's definitely doing its job! Onward and upward!

TGIF Challenge #497 - Color Challenge

Welcome to this week’s TGIF Challenge!! Such a fun autumnal color combo … and I didn’t actually do a fall-themed card! THAT was the challenge for me!

The Umbrella Days Bundle just screams “Christopher Robin” to me … without Pooh, of course! This little person has a sweet little doggie for a companion instead!

I not only used the Umbrella Days Dies, but the Deckled Rectangles and some raindrops from the Bright Skies Dies as well!

I used my Watercolor Brush and some paper-pieced bits to make the image with the umbrella.

The umbrella itself is make using a combo of a stamped image, water coloring for the little human and paper piecing AND water coloring on the umbrella itself! I love how it adds texture!

Stamps: Umbrella Days
Paper: Basic White, Pecan Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Country Woods 12x12 DSP
Ink: Memento Black, Pecan Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, Ivory Stampin’ Blend
Accessories: Umbrella Days Dies, Deckled Rectangles Dies, Bright Skies Dies, Pecan Pie Adhesive-Backed Dots, Natural 3/8” Polka Dot Trim
