Monday Montage #233

“It’s gonna be cold, I t’s gonna be gray, and it’s gonna last you for the rest of your life.” DANG that groundhog!! We are still getting snow even when the forecast isn’t predicting it!! I would be handling it MUCH better if I could see some occasional blue skies and feel some sun! DOUBLE DANG! I know it will happen eventually … I think … I hope!

Meanwhile … here’s a card I made a few weeks back and never got around to posting (my life!)! I really love the color scheme, although I can’t seem to find the DSP in my craft room (also, my life!)! I know it’s there … I will find it and post the name of it shortly! (I found it! It is called "Fitting Florets" ... and it was only available as an online exclusive back in December/January!)

I sponged the Whisper White background layer with some Blushing Bride ink. I love how it gives it a bit of a watercolor effect. I also distressed the edges of the DSP strip with the edge of a pair of scissors …

Stamps: Framed Florets
Paper: Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Fitting Florets DSP
Ink: Blushing Bride, Versamark, Black Memento; Stamping Blends - Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Mellown Moss, Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink
Accessories:  Framed Florets Dies, Whisper White Frayed Ribbon, White Baker’s Twine, White Embossing Powder, Solid Faceted Gems

Here's a blog roll just in case you get "stuck" trying to hop around ...

Gonna go put on my snow boots and walk to work (again!) because I just don’t have the energy to scrape my windshields off once work is over today (again!)!

Monday Montage #231

Since this is my second blog post in the last few hours, I will keep it short and sweet!

I long ago decided that green was my favorite color. And Granny Apple Green ranks right at the top of my most favorite shades of green! How bright and cheerful it makes everything! I fussy cut and paper pieced the “rolling hills” in the main image I used from “Better Days”. I love how well it pairs with Pacific Point! A little accent of Mango Melody for the sun makes me smile!

This came together more quickly than I expected it to. Sometimes I actually can do something without too much fuss!

Stamps: Better Days
Paper: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Basic Black, Garden Green, Old Olive, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Dandy Designs DSP
Ink: Memento Black, Versamark
Accessories:  Deckled Rectangles Dies, Into the Clouds Embossing Folder, Black & White Gingham Ribbon, Pastel Adhesive Backed Sequins

Control Freaks Spread Love

This month the Control Freaks are spreading the love with their creations! Connie Babbert made a DARLING "love"ly card with the "Lighting the Way" bundle ... so cute!

I have finally given in to DSP. I have always loved it, but have often been reluctant to rely on it as my primary focus. Not any more! With all the die/DSP combos that Stampin’ Up has been coming out with the last several years I am HOOKED! These flowers??? HOLY COW! They are beautiful!! I made this card for someone I love (a dear cousin), so it counts, right???

See what I mean??? Beautiful and oh-so easy!

Stamps: Framed Florets
Paper: Pacific Point, Balmy Blue, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Pacific Point, Versamark
Accessories: Framed Florets Dies, Split Card Dies, Sweet Sorbet 1/8” Metallic Ribbon, Glossy Dots Assortment, White Embossing Powder

I completed an 8-mile training run on Saturday and felt SO great afterwards … so happy to have finally healed up from my Achilles surgery AND a nasty bout of tendinitis. It’s AMAZING how our bodies (with the help from some well-trained medical professionals) can get you back to a ngood place!

Next up? Deb Henderson! Her card is the lovely AND lucky!

Monday Montage #230

This is going to be short and sweet! I am visiting family in The Middle of Nowhere, Nevada … the internet is VERY sketchy, and I’m trying to post from my iPad (my computer is DEAD and I left my charger at home!)! Laborious, for sure, so let’s get to it!

Let’s just sit and bask in the loveliness that is Dainty Flowers DSP, shall we???? It is soooooooo veeeeerrrrry glllloooooorrrrious!!!! With a little bit of fussy cutting and some help from the Split Card Texture Die (which is also almost too good to be true!), it is pretty easy to make something that looks like you spent FOREVER on!!

Some ribbon, a little baker’s twine and a few sequins and we are done!!! C’mon Spring!!!

Stamps: Framed Florets
Paper: Whisper White, Dainty Flowers DSP
Ink: Rich Razzleberry
Accessories:  Split Card Textured Dies, Framed Florets Dies, 1/4” Gold Shimmer Ribbon, Pastel Sequins, White Baker's Twine

Here's a blog roll just in case you get "stuck" trying to hop around ...

I’m now going to disconnect from tech and play some more with my sweet little two-year-old grand nephew and visit with my niece … families are forever!!

Monday Montage #229

Aaaaaand the temps are coming WAAAYYY down! We aren't supposed to get above 30 degrees until next weekend ... Brrrr! Monday Montage is marching on (some of us through more snow than others!)! I'm starting to try to "will" Spring to come by making flower-y cards (even though I know we are at LEAST 8 weeks off!)!

I am really enjoying using my Stampin' Blends! Coloring has always been very relaxing for me ... seems some habits stick with us from childhood, don't they??

I felt the need to add a BUNCH of baker's twine on this one ... couldn't help myself!

Stamps: Full of Love
Paper: Whisper White, Gorgeous Grape, Hues of Happiness DSP
Ink: Memento Black, Versamark; Stampin' Blends - Highland Heather, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo
Accessories:  Deckled Rectangles Dies, Tailored Tags Dies, Glossy Dots Assortment, White Embossing Powder, White Baker's Twine

Here's a blog roll just in case you get "stuck" trying to hop around ...

We played some online Nintendo Switch games with our kids over the weekend (we got a Switch for Christmas). It was soooo much fun! The kids killed us in some of the games, but I was able to redeem myself with bowling (which I can't do in person!)! I may have found a new favorite game!

Monday Montage #223

And just like that we are working our way into fall! Sooooo glad we have cooled down (a little bit!)! I can actually feel a little crisp in the air ... what a speedy year this has been!

The He's the Man Suite of products?? Yep! I am an absolute FAN! These cards practically made themselves!! The images (which are just printed and pre-diecut ... easy peasy) are the BOMB! SUPER easy to just throw them together and then VOILA!

Not a single stamped image on either of these cards ANYwhere! Every single diecut is just so much fun! I used the Splatter Embossing Folder (from the Stripes and Splatters Duo) on each of these cards ... and just inked them a little with some Early Espresso ink and a sponge!

Stamps: NONE
Paper: Sahara Sand, He's the Man Specialty DSP
Ink: NONE
Accessories: Rustic Metallic Dots, Stripes & Splatters Embossing Folder (Splatters)

Here's a blog roll just in case you get "stuck" trying to hop around ...

Had the whole family over for dinner today ... and I'm POOPED! It will probably only take about 2 and a half minutes to fall asleep~

Click "Next" to see Bree Renwick... and "Back" to see Emily Kimmey - they both have brilliantly bright and spooky!

Steppin' Up With the Freaks!

Ohmygosh! What a WEEK (and it's only MONDAY!)! This month the Control Freaks are Steppin' It Up! Cindy Elam made a GORGEOUS Autumn creation ... did ya see it???? It was BEAUTIFUL!I needed to make a couple of birthday cards for my nieces (one 5 and the other 7)! The ladybugs were the very FIRST thing that came to my

This is my "quick-and-easy" version.  I punched the daisies and the ladybugs directly from cardstock ... the only stamping, other than the sentiment, was for the ladybugs' spots and the Daffodil Delight center on the daisy. Using the Gingham Cottage DSP made this come together SO easily.  I added a couple of Rustic Metallic Dots and called it good.

And here is my "stepped up" version! I added an extra ladybug AND an additional daisy. Also, I used some Shimmery Crystal Effects to make the ladybug spots and daisy center more 3D ... and I also added a splash of gingham ribbon as well as an additional Rustic Metallic Dot.

You can see the extra texture in this closeup ...

Stamps: Charming Sentiments
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red, Gingham Cottage DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Versamark
Accessories: Ladybug Builder Punch, Medium Daisy Punch, Sentiment Silhouettes Dies, Black & White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon, Shimmery Crystal Effects, Rustic Metallic Dots, White Embossing Powder

Next up? Deb Henderson! She has created some beautiful pheasant-y options!

Monday Montage #222

HOOOOT! Holy COW!! Salt Lake City has had the HOTTEST summer on record! We hit 107 degrees during a stretch of 10 days over 100 degrees! I am DONE! Sheesh!! THEN ... the jet stream MOVED and cooler air came in (YAY!) ... BUT it brought sooo much smoke from the California fires with it! Since I have had a cold for two weeks, the smoke has NOT been my friend!! Wah-wah-wah!! Oh well ... at least I got to stamp!

Oink! Oink! Oink!! I have resisted buying ANY of the piggy stamp sets for long enough ... this Birthday Piggy set finally pushed me over the edge! DANG! A piggy on a scooter! Accented with GINGHAM!! I think I am having cuteness overload! Scallops and polka dots as well ... I think my brain is gonna explode!

I've had so much fun lately coloring! I made three of these cards (which I NEVER do!) for family kiddos ... and the little piggy just makes me happy! And the Gingham Cottage DSP is just soooo yummy!

Stamps: Birthday Piggy
Paper: Whisper White, Balmy Blue, Gingham Cottage DSP
Ink: Black; Stampin' Blends - Petal Pink, Balmy Blue, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Smoky Slate
Accessories: Playful Piggy Dies, Glossy Enamel Dots, Dots & Spots Die, Scalloped Contours Dies, Black and White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon

Here's a blog roll just in case you get "stuck" trying to hop around ...
