Monday Montage #199

I have NO crutches, I have NO boot ... but I also have NO desire to wear a shoe on my owie foot yet!! Still working on healing ... and trying to remind myself every dang day that it took me more thhan a year and a half to get my foot/achilles problem to the uber-supreme level to which I had it prior to my surgery. I'm giving myself permission to take it easy and let my body do its thing. I also need to remmebr to try NOT to break myself by thinking I am as good as new already and overdoing it ... sigh ... just super grateful for modern medicine and the wondrous things they can do to fix the myriad of ways we break ourselves! I spent the entire weekend cleaning house, shopping and cooking ... and I mean a LOT of cooking! I made what I christened the First Annual Weixler Family OktoberFeast! I made two kinds of wurst, kaestaetzle, rotkohl, apple strudel, black forest cherry chocolate mini cakes, German potato cakes with applesaucee or sour cream and chives for topping, wheat and rye pumpkin sesame seeed bread, two warm and toasty drinks - pumpkin spice apple cider and non-alcoholic mulled wine. I also made a trip to the local German bakery (thanks Vosens!) to pick up some DELICIOUS and LARGE dark pretzels and baci rolls. Add to that some cheese and pickles and some grapes and you got a feast to behold, my friends. REALLY pleased with how well everything turned out! I am also very happy that I had time and inspiration to put together a quick little card for this week's Monday Montage Blog Hop. WHEW!!! What a weekend!

Just a quick little card made from the All Squared Away Stamps and Floral Square Dies ... to the rescue! After the weekend I had I was grateful to have inspiration and completion come to me so quickly this week. WHEW!! I needed that!

Stamps: All Squared Away
Paper: Crumb Cake, Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White, Gold Foil

Monday Montage #188

Well, I am feeling VERY productive and VERY good about myself from this past weekend! I got to meet my son's girlfriend's mother and grandmother, we ate and played some really fun games, I helped my mama out, went on a 4-mile walk (a little sore, but at least I was able to go!), and cleaned and reorganized the cabinets in my bathroom (isn't it funny the things that bring you joy when you are over a "certain" age??)!! AND I made a card!! And it only took me about 15 minutes because several of the components were sitting on my craft table leftover from recent projects. I call this weekend a WIN!! I'll take that!!

I colored the pansies a couple of weeks ago when I borrowed the Pansy Patch Stamp Set that I borrowed from my friends  I used the oval cut from Soft Sea Foam using the
Stitched Shapes Dies from a card I made a couple of days ago.  The Basic Border Dies accent was leftover from yet ANOTHER card! I love it when leftovers work together!

Stamps: Pansy Patch, Sweet Strawberry (sentiment)
Paper: Balmy Blue, Whisper White, Soft Sea Foam, Forever Fern Greenery DSP
Ink: Balmy Blue, Pacific Point, So Saffron, Mango Melody, Real Red, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen

Fab Friday #212

The One Where Wendy Is Losing Her Mind. Yup ... that's me this week. Can't seem to keep my brain in focus. Welcome to Fab Friday ... where I not only used a WRONG COLOR in my creation (which I had done on TIME), but where I also went to bed and fell asleep and FORGOT to make my blog post. Sigh ... I blame the pandemic ... and 2020 ... and my dumb Achilles Tendonitis ... and garden gnomes ... because my husband told me that it is a F'RILLS news story that the world is suffering a TERRIBLE shortage of garden gnomes right now ... and that has my brain VERY concerned! Sigh ... it happens ...

I actually had fun making this card, and I really LIKE how it turned out, despite the fact that my Flirty Flamingo looks a LOT like the Calypso Coral I used instead! Makes me wanna be on a sandy beach somewhere ... ANYwhere ... with a good book and a slushy fruity drink in my hand and a HUGE umbrella overhead to protect me from the sun! Doesn't that sound AWESOME??!!???

Stamps: Timeless Tropical
Paper: Crumb Cake, Soft Sea Foam, Old Olive, Terracotta Tile, Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Ink: Old Olive, Terracotta Tile, Early Espresso, Versamark
Accessories: Stitched Shapes Dies, In the Tropics Dies, Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder, Frosted Epoxy Droplets, 3/16" Braided Linen Trim, Whisper White Embossing Powder

So just pretend that my Calypso Coral is actually Flirty Flamingo and you will be GOOD to GO!!

Progress ... finally ... at least a little bit!! Achilles seems to finally taking an upturn! I got to run on a zero G treadmill yesterday and it was AWESOME! I felt as heavy as a brick when they turned it off, though. It was very funny! Science is SOOO cool! Here's hoping I am as good as new before too much longer!!

Freaky Flower Garden

What a whirlwind of a weekend!! I spent the last four days up in Walla Walla with my besties, Cheryl Curtis and Bree Renwick. We decided to make our own fun with Stampin' Up's OnTour Virtual "Convention". We ate, relaxed in the sunshine, shopped, and of COURSE, STAMPED!!! Hopping around you should just have come from the creative Connie Tumm! She hasn't been able to hop with us for a while, so it is GREAT having her join us this month!!

One of the most funnest things to be able to do when you visit with other stamping friends is to play with THEIR stamping stuff!! Not gonna lie, it was SOOOO fun looking at some of Bree's lovely stamps and coming up with ideas to make with them.  I color the main image from the "Simply Succulents" stamp set with a variety of Stampin' Blends.  I initially stamped the image itself with some Basic Gray ink.  BAD choice!!! It ended looking up all muddy and kinda dull (which I should have expected, DUH!)!! I restamped the image again on some vellum cardstock using Memento ink and some black embossing powder. I then used the dies to cut the image again and laid it on top of my not-so-fancy colored image. Again ... not gonna lie ... I LOVE how it came out! Looks much more subtle and "succulent-y" this way, I think!!

Stamps: Simply Succulents
Paper: Soft Succulent, Gray Granite, Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Pattern Party DSP, Vellum Cardstock
Ink: Black Memento, Gray Granite; Stampin' Blends - Soft Succulent (Dark and Light), Smoky Slate (Dark and Light), Gray Granite (Dark and Light), Just Jade (Dark and Light), Granny Apple Green (Light), Flirty Flamingo (Dark and Light), Highland Heather (Dark and Light), Color Lifter
Accessories: Potted Succulents Dies, Stitched Nested Labels, Soft Succulent 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon, 2021-2023 In Color Jewels, Black Embossing Powder

I have been LOVING so many of the cards I have seen created with this UBER-gorgeous Art Gallery Bundle. I had a BLAST creating this card. And let me just tell y'all ... the Pattern Party DSP (which is a hostess offering in the upcoming new Stampin' Up Catalog) is a MUST OWN!! I love EVERY dang piece in the pack!! And it comes with a LOT!! You will need to order some at your very first chance. It's THAT good!

I also used a vellum layer on top of the word dies. They looked kind of flat to me and the vellum helped them pop a bit more.

Stamps: Art Gallery
Paper: Crumb Cake, Balmy Blue, Whisper White, Vellum Cardstock, Pattern Party DSP, Fine Art DSP
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Bumblebee, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral, Balmy Blue, Pear Pizzazz, Versamark
Accessories: Floral Gallery Dies, Whisper White Embossing Powder, 3/8" Fine Art Ribbon, Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack (Old Olive), Artistry Blooms Adhesive-Backed Sequins

Next up??? Tami Hewlitt! There is not a SINGLE THING this woman creates that I do not LOVE!!

Around the World on Wednesday - Rainbow Monochrome Challenge

Lookie what is happening here TODAY!! I was asked (along with a few of my other Control
Freak Blog-Hopping Friends) to join in on the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop.  We really ARE hopping all around the world ... follow the links and you will see!  I feel so honored to have been asked to play along with their challenge this month.  Check it out!!

Based on our time zones, we were each assigned a "rainbow" color and asked to make a monochrome creation with it (basic colors were ok to add ... hence my black and white accents).  Based on my location, I was in the "Yellow Zone". I love me some yellow, so it was fun and each to come up with something so that I could play along!

I love that it is spring time.  Flowers are starting to peep up everywhere ... and I LOVE it!! I think I have finally given in to the fact that daisies have long been my favorite flower.  They are so happy, aren't they?? (And YES ... I do agree with Meg Ryan's assessment from "You've Got Mail" ... "Don't you think daisies are the happiest flower?" Why YES I DO!) I combined some old and new things on this card, and I really like how it turned out. It also has reminded me that I need to get working on my garden PRONTO!!

Stamps: Pansy Patch (sentiment)
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight
Ink: Black Memento
Accessories: Small Daisy Punch, Scalloped Contours Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies,Ornate Frames Dies, Circles Dies, Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon, Painted Textured 3D Embossing Folder, Stapler

I shall be heading up to my BFF Bree's place this weekend with my OTHER BFF Cheryl to participate in Stampin' Up's OnTour Virtual Event.  We shall eat, stamp, laugh and learn. SO blessed to have the friends in my life that have come into it because of my love for paper crafting. VERY blessed indeed!!

Next up??? We are heading north of the US border to Canada and the talent of  Elaine de Montmoreency! A-MAZ-ING is all I have to say!!

I am on what feels like round 457 of doc visits, PT sessions and trying to slooooowly move myself back into activity ... my Achilles tendonitis is still stubbornly hanging on!! I am moving into week number six of twice-a-week therapy appointments.  I know that progress is being made ... but DANG ... it sure does seem to be dragging along!!

Celebrating - Freak Style!

Here we are again, playing with the Control Freaks! And this month, we are celebrating with our creations. Hopping around, you will just have come from the blog of birthday girl, Melissa Stout! So today I am celebrating HER!! YAY MELISSA!!

I created this card with inspiration from the Stampin' Fancy Friday Blog Hop ... who were using "Everything Ombre" as their inspiration. So, between celebrating my fellow freaky friend, Melissa, and doing a little color fade, this is the card I came up with. I keep telling you guys, if you DON'T have the Basic Patterns Masks, you MUST add them to your collection ... they are SOOOO fun to create with!

Stamps: Vine Design
Paper: Soft Sea Foam, Whisper White, Granny Apple Green, Pacific Point
Ink: Pacific Point, Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Soft Sea Foam, Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Whisper White
Accessories: Flowering Vine Dies, Stitched Shapes Dies, Whisper White Embossing Powder, Old Olive/Pretty Peacock 3/8" Reversible Ribbon, Basic Patterns Masks

Last week my hubby and I were able to get our first COVID shots ... and tomorrow I take my mama to get her second one! Crossing my fingers and hope she doesn't have too much of a reaction.

Next up??? Cindy Elam! Always fun to celebrate when you see what she has created!!

Monday Montage #185

Don't ya just HATE looking for things??? I know that I DO!! Especially when it is something you know that you JUST HAD ... and it CAN'T be far!! I've been looking for my AirPods since Saturday night! I use those dang things every dang day all the dang time! And the "find my" app shows that the last time they were used I was at MY house ... at 3:38pm on Saturday. Where is the HECK did I put them down??? DAAAANG!! The "find my" app isn't very helpful when it comes to AirPods ... they have to be charged and NOT in the closed case. Seriously??? If I knew where the charged and closed case was in the first place I wouldn't have to be using the ding-dang app to find where they are, now would I??!!?? SHEESH!! At least I got a bunch of cleaning done whilst looking And I took a break from looking, cleaning and cooking to make a card for this week's Monday Montage, so at least THAT was fun!

I am most definitely feeling me some spring vibes!! It's still cold outside, but I am starting to see the signs of spring. LOVED playing with the Basic Patterns Masks again to create a little ombre effect for my background. A little Detailed Bands Dies and some vellum and I was done!

Stamps: Vine Design (sentiment)
Paper: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Vellum
Ink: Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, So Saffron, Whisper White Craft
Accessories: Detailed Bands Dies, Basic Patterns Mask, Trio Corner Rounder, Flowers for Every Season Gems, Whisper White Embossing Powder

Fab Friday #201

Sadly, I missed the last Fab Friday Stampin' Challenge ... our 200th!! Sigh ... sometimes I just get so busy that I forget where I am and what I am supposed to be doing.  To be honest, that is what happened to me last go 'round! I ended up going with my hubby, my son, his buddy and his girlfriend back down to Rockville, Utah (by Zion National Park). It was glorious and relaxing and a much-needed walkaway from the world for a while. I skinned my knees pretty good on one of the hikes we did, but wouldn't change the experience for anything! I LOVE the outdoors, especially with people who mean so much to me.

I think that the whole election this year has exhausted me (as it has every one). Doesn't matter what side of the political spectrum you are, there is nasty and name-calling and better-than-you assumptions being leveled at every side.  I believe that the vast majority of Americans are good and kind and just wanting the country to be on the same page with itself ... and that is what I am hoping happens by the time all is said and done.  I've always been a true believe of "love one another' ... and I believe we will get back to some point of that before too very long.

So as I sat down to make this card I was feeling very uninspired ... too drained from what has been happening in our country, our world ... and then I was reminded by a dear friend of mine who had posted this on his FB page - "Plot twist: 2020 has actually been the best year of your life. You've faced challenge after challenge, you've adapted, and you've overcome. 2020 has forced you to grow exponentially. Don't take that for granted." Pretty profound, eh??? I choose to try to face the coming days with this in mind as I get out of bed ... we can do hard things and come out stronger at the other end.  Just keep on being YOU ... the world will follow behind!

With all that deep thinking, I finally was able to clear my mind and make this card for the Fab Friday Stampin' Challenge ... and then I went and took my doggie for a walk, came home and add a delicious chocolate caramel apple made for me by my sweet friend, Cheryl.   We are good, you guys ... don't let what you see on the news every day change your mind about that!

Stamps: Monogram Messages
Paper: Whisper White, Petal Pink, In Good Taste DSP
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack, Good Taste Elements, Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, Trio Corner Punch, Metallic Pearls, Stitched So Sweetly Dies

I couldn't stop myself from doing a "more-is-more" version of this fun sketch!

My sweet mama had her 85th birthday on Tuesday.  With her officially being on hospice, there is a very good chance that she may not be around to celebrate another birthday.  We had a small group of family get together to give her a surprise birthday dinner.  It was lovely ... the look of love and joy she glowed with all night were worth the effort ... and lasted clear into the next day. Her day nurse called me after her visit and said, "Your mom was just so SO happy today!" I knew why .... and my heart was smiling.

Monday Montage #175

And just like THAT we slammed from summer into fall! It was in the 80's on Saturday and didn't get much past the 50's today ... weather can be SOOO weird!! On the plus side, I FINALLY finished getting all of my Halloween decorations up! I'm very sad that, due to the stupid-dumb COVID-19 thing, we aren't feeling good about the whole trick-or-treat thing. Halloween is my favorite ... NEXT year is gonna be EPIC! In the mean time, we are here to play with the Monday Montage girls! YAY!!

And once again here is a creation that made me ride the struggle bus the ENTIRE time!! I KNEW I wanted to use the Camouflage background stamp ... which is the first thing I did. Then I couldn't figure out WHAT to do with it next! I'm still not sure this is quite what I had in mind, but at least I got SOMEthing put together!

Stamps: Camouflage, Celebrate Sunflowers, Celebration Tidings
Paper: Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride. Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White
Ink: Mossy Meadow, Flirty Flamingo, Pear Pizzazz, Mango Melody
Accessories: Detailed Bands Dies. Sunflowers Dies, Flowers for Every Season Gems, Wink of Stella, Shimmery Crystal Effects

Monday Montage #174

We could not have asked for a more beautiful weekend. Our skies outside were cool and clear. The colors and smells of fall were in the air. i got some crafty projects done and even some laundry and housecleaning! YAY ME!

I sat down and kept getting distracted whilst I was trying to find inspiration to create something. I finally came up with an idea using the Banners Stamp Set. I made a fun little strip of images using the cute stamps in the Banners Set. I also brushed some Whisper White ink over the top of the Old World Paper embossed piece ... kinda made it look cob-webby!!

Stamps: Banners
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie Glimmer DSP
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Black Stazon, Garden Green, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Accessories: Old World Paper Embossing Folder, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Whisper White Embossing Powder, Flowers for Every Season Ribbon

Fab Friday #198

So here we are again ... how is it that the weeks have gone by so quickly this year??? Or is it that they are going slowly? This year is just SOOOO weird!! At least the temperatures are starting to come down a little ... I can feel fall in the air, especially in the mornings and evening. The leaves starting turning colors a few weeks ago, but now they are really being show offs ... I LOVE the smells and colors of fall! Thanks for joining us for another fun Fab Friday Stampin' Challenge. The colors this time aruond are SUPER fun!!

I actually CASED myself on this one ... I was looking back through my blog at some cards from about 5 years ago and came across one similar in layout to this one. I love little banners, don't you?? The Banners Pick a Punch is a staple you all NEED in your stash. I am finding myself reaching for it more and more ... I hope it sticks around in the catalog for a looooong time!

Stamps: Love of Leaves
Paper: Misty Moonlight, Seaside Spray, Gray Granite, Whisper White, In Good Taste DSP, Plaid Tidings DSP, In Color DSP
Ink: Misty Moonlight
Accessories: Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon, Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, Banners Pick a Punch, Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels

I LOOOOVE this combo!

I ended up taking my doggie to the vet yesterday. She hasn't been eating and shows NO interest in her food or any of her doggie snacks! The vet said she had no fever and wasn't dehydrated, but she couldn't get her to eat anything, either. So now we are waiting for her to ... um ... leave us a sample so we can take it back to the vet for testing. And, of course, because we WANT her to leave us a "sample" she isn't cooperating!! UGH! I made her a little bowl of chicken broth and she actually ate that ... then she nibbled up a little doggie treat we gave her. Hoping this means she is on the mend ... and maybe there will be something waiting out in the backyard for us in the morning. HA! Isn't pet ownership SO MUCH FUN???
