TGIF Challenge #561 - Product Challenge - Embossing Powder

Ahhh … the magic of embossing powder. Who DOESN’T remember the first time they heated up an image they stamped and sprinkled with embossing powder??!!?? I did it over a burner on my stove (since heat embossing tools weren’t yet a “thing”). Still LOVE watching it happen!

Check out the blog challenge here - TGIF Challenge Blog if you’d like to play along.

For this challenge I started with a piece of Berry Burst cardstock; then, I stamped it using Versamark and the Lasting Linen Background Stamp. I sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat set it.

I then cut a panel for use in the background, for the dangling hearts and a backsplash for the “I Love You” sentiment.

Since the little Bubble Bath rainbow diecut already had holes in it (from the Sunshine Vibes Dies), I couldn’t resist sewing the edge using a needle and some White Baker’s Twine.

I already had the Bubble Bath panel embossing using the Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder and cut using one of the Perennial Postage Dies sitting on my craft table from another project … same with the little vellum panel. I LOVE it when I use “leftovers”!

Stamps: Lasting Linen, Words of Beauty
Paper: Berry Burst, Bubble Bath, Basic White, Vellum
Ink: Berry Burst, Versamark
Accessories: 3D Dotted Circles Embossing Folder, Sunshine Vibes Dies, Perennial Postage Dies, Words of Beauty Dies, White Baker’s Twine, Pretty in Pink Gems

Anyone else struggling to get over Christmas??? I FINALLY undecorated the tree in our basement last night … sigh … I think because we have had virtually NO SNOW it seems very off to me this year!

We’d love to have you play along!! You can check us out our blog HERE and Instagram … lots of great inspiration from the rest of the TGIF Crew!

Monday Montage - Brewed for You

Here we are again with the Monday Montage Hop! I FINALLY cleaned out my “holiday explosion” in the craft room and have some space to create!

I had a friend request that I make a card for someone in her family who lost a spouse. She asked if I had anything with a “wine glass” … which I did not!! Thank heavens that Bree (fellow-Monday-Montager Bree Renwick) had the retired “Brewed for You” set and sent me some assorted wine glasses! YAY!

I used the Lasting Linen background stamp inked with Berry Burst for the backdrop. I also added a little panel of vellum that I cut using the Perennial Postage Dies.

I also added some flowers using the Petals of Beauty Dies.

Up close you can see that I dripped some water onto this card (on purpose, I promise!).

I used a waterbrush and some Berry Burst ink to drop some water … mostly on the vellum panel.

I also added some little Lemon Lolly flowers that I centered with some retired pink pearl embellishments.

The sentiment was made using the Thoughtful Moments Dies/Embossing Folder and then sponged with more Berry Burst Ink.

Stamps: Brewed for You, Lasting Linen
Paper: Basic White, Lemon Lolly, Vellum
Ink: Berry Burst, Memento Black
Accessories: Petals of Beauty Dies, Perennial Postage Dies, Thoughtful Moments Dies/Embossing Folder, Wink of Stella, Blooming Pearls (retired), White Baker’s Twine

I neeeeed to get back on track with making and posting cards … Christmas threw me WAAAYYY off! I have missed playing in my craft room!

Monday Montage - Mixed Florals & Labels

Here we are again with the Monday Montage Hop! I FINALLY cleaned out my “holiday explosion” in the craft room and have some space to create!

I used a card posted by my fellow-Monday-Montage-r and friend, Elizabeth Price. I changed the layout a bit and used a different stamp set, but the idea is basically hers … isn’t it pretty??

The Country Woods DSP has been my most favorite DSP in the last couple of years … I’ve dressed it up, down and sideways!!

The image and sentiment, from Mixed Florals and Mixed Labels, were stamped with Early Espresso and colored using my Stampin’ Blends - Berry Burst, Bubble Bath and Pecan Pie.

I used an old paper crimper (I know many of you have these still!) to add even more texture to the background (just like Elizabeth’s card!).

I added a layer of vellum (YAY for its return!) using the Everyday Arches Dies, plus accented the whole thing with a little Crumb Cake lattice shape and some gold brushed butterflies.

Stamps: Mixed Florals, Mixed Labels
Paper: Basic White, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Country Woods DSP
Ink: Early Espresso; Stampin’ Blends - Berry Burst, Pool Party, Pecan Pie, Bubble Bath, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Mixed Florals Dies, Mixed Labels Dies, Everyday Arches Dies, Early Espresso Baker’s Twine, Brushed Butterflies Embellishments

I need to share my Christmas card (so happy I had them mailed the week BEFORE Christmas instead of the week AFTER). And … true confessions … I used stamps and dies that are NOT from Stampin’ Up (as JanTink would call it, “rubbahdultery”!).

Monday Montage - Petals of Beauty

Happy Monday Montage Day!! I had to get up extra early this morning to make the card I had picture in my head to share this week. Between Thanksgiving, putting up Christmas decorations and working on my Christmas card (I make 100 of them!) I have been SUPER busy … not to mention trying to do some shopping as well!

EVERY dang thing in the Brushed with Beauty Suite is STELLAR!! I am in love with ALL of it!!

I used items from the Petals of Beauty Bundle (stamps and dies) to create this card.

First I stamped the flower images using Cherry Cobbler Ink. I then cut out the coordinating flower die in both Real Red and Very Vanilla.

The greenery dies were cut out of Shaded Spruce.

I pulled out my trusty old Simply Scored Board to add some dimension to the background with some horizontal and vertical scored lines.

And how can I do anything “Christmas-y” without the flickers of snow?? I used both Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends to flick some fun onto the background.

The sentiment was just stamped with Cherry Cobbler and fussy cut.

Stamps: Petals of Beauty, Delicate Pines (sentiment)
Paper: Very Vanilla, Real Red, Shaded Spruce
Ink: Cherry Cobbler; Stampin’ Blends - Cherry Cobbler, Real Red and Old Olive
Accessories: Petals of Beauty Dies, Simply Scored, Gold Dots (retired)

Two more weeks until Christmas (more or less) … who’s ready??? I have always dreamed about being one of “those” people who had everything done by Thanksgiving … HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Stampin’ Fancy Friday - Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge

As I sit here in my green and white striped sweatshirts that says the word “jolly” in bright, bold red lettering, I am finally giving into the holiday season … which is perfect since this month’s Stampin’ Fancy Friday Challenge is “Holly Jolly Christmas”!

Nothing evokes the spirit of a holly jolly Christmas quite like a winter white snowstorm, so that is where I got my inspiration!

I stamped several snowflakes from Delicate Pines in Versamark on some Basic White cardstock. After heat setting them with White Embossing Powder,  I used my Blending Brushes to smooth some color over them from top to bottom - Balmy Blue, Lost Lagoon and Pool Party.

.

You know me … a little color flicking with some Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends, plus some water droplets added with the help of my trusty Water Brushes and my background was set!!

I cut out the backdrop with an Everyday Arches Die and then split it into five horizontal pieces.

The easy part was adding the snowflakes I cut using the Delicate Pines Dies … the top one is also brushed a splattered with a little ink.

Lastly, a few Low Profile Sparkle Dots (my new “go to”) finished it up. Except for the sentiment, which I stamped in Pretty Peacock and then just did a little fussy cutting around.

Stamps: Delicate Pines
Paper: Pool Party, Pretty Peacock, Basic White
Ink: Pretty Peacock, Pool Party, Mint Macaron, Versamark
Accessories: Delicate Pines Dies, Everyday Arches Dies, Low Profile Sparkle Dots

It’s two more days until Thanksgiving here in the good ol’ U-S of A. Which means the cooking will most definitely be starting TODAY!! My favorite part of Thanksgiving is being with family … but the food is a close second!

TGIF Challenge #552 - Inspiration

Isn’t this photo sooooooo gorgeous??? I love it! I knew immediately when I received the 3D Traditional Wreath Embossing Folder in a box of goodies a few days ago that I would DEFINITY be using it for this week’s TGIF Challenge!

Check out the blog challenge here - TGIF Challenge Blog if you’d like to play along.

I had soooooo much fun making this one! After using the Traditional Wreath Embossing Folder on some watercolor paper, I pulled out a bunch of ink pads and started working on it!

I feel sooooo fancy … looks like I can actually watercolor (kinda) with t his one!!

The sentiment panel was made using the More Than Autumn Stamps and Dies (three layers of cardstock on the “season”!).

I made the accent behind the “season” with a die from Sentimental Framing … all in all I am VERY happy with how this one turned out!.

Stamps: More Than Autumn
Paper: Watercolor Paper, Basic White, Pretty Peacock, Pumpkin Pie, Berry Burst, Blackberry Bliss
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Berry Burst, Blackberry Bliss, Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel, Pretty Peacock
Accessories: 3D Traditional Wreath Embossing Folder, More Than Autumn Dies, Sentimental Framing Dies, Water Painter, Gold Striped 3/8” Mesh Ribbon

Well … looks like we are going into the holidays full force starting this weekend!! LOTS of family get togethers and MANY Christmas projects are on the horizon!

Monday Montage - Festive Friends

Welcome back for another round of creativity with the Monday Montage Crew!

Where DOES the time go??!??

I have caved … it is TIME to start making Christmas cards!! I resisted for as loooong as I could!!

These little trees were made from the Festive Friends Stamp Set. I was making another card with the snowman from that set and the little tree was just looking up at me all sad and unused. To the rescue!!

I stamped the trees in both Lost Lagoon and Shaded Spruce. The tree in the center is stamped on some Pool Party card stock to make it pop a little more.

And of course I had to give a “snowing” effect by flicking some Stampin’ Blends to splatter them around.

The frame was made cutting two of the Textured Notes Dies … one inside the other.

The sentiment panel … I watercolored a little splash of Lost Lagoon onto a scrap of White cardstock and then stamped the image in Shaded Spruce and cut it with another one of the Textured Notes Dies.

Stamps: Festive Friends, Delicate Pines
Paper: Basic White, Real Red, Pool Party
Ink: Lost Lagoon, Shaded Spruce; Stampin’ Blends - Dk. & Lt. Lost Lagoon
Accessories: Textured Notes Dies, Festive Friends Dies, White 3/8” Fluffy Trim, Real Red and White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints, Low Profile Sparkle Dots

I am having a hard time deciding on what to do for my Christmas cards this year. I have made two of them up and I like them both … I just need to make a decision and go with it!

TGIF Challenge #551 - Sketch Challenge

Once in a while I get an idea for a card in my head that just pops in there (inspired, of course, by this fun sketch!)!

It didn’t take very long and this card was complete … welcome to this week’s TGIF Challenge!!

Check out the blog challenge here - TGIF Challenge Blog if you’d like to play along.

You guuuuuyyyss … the new Pop-Up Petals Bundle is sooooooo lovely!! The flowers I used for the focal point on this card are from the stamp set … I only had to “color” the leaves, as the rest of the image is all stamped!!

The new Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder goes so perfectly with this sketch due to the diamond … don’t they look great together???

I splattered the panel behind the image with the Light and Dark Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends.

I also used the new Lasting Linen Background Stamp to add even more texture to this card. The Brushed Brass Butterflies were the PERFECT accent to this fun little sunflower bouquet.

Stamps: Pop-Up Petals, Lasting Linen Background Stamp
Paper: Very Vanilla
Ink: Early Espresso, Darling Duckling. Pecan Pie; Stampin’ Blends - Lt. and Dk. Granny Apple Green
Accessories: Pop-Up Petals Dies, Perennial Postage Dies, Beautiful Pattern Embossing Folder, Irregular Weave 3/8” Trim, Brushed Brass Butterflies

Training season for the Huntsman Heroes started last Saturday … I will be running at least 3 half marathons in the spring to raise money for cancer research … my 11th year … YAY!

We’d love to have you play along!! You can check us out our blog HERE and Instagram … lots of great inspiration from the rest of the TGIF Crew!

TGIF Challenge #550 - Color Challenge

What a beautiful color combo!! For this week’s TGIF Challenge we are going with the colors Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral and Old Olive. LOVE them!

Check out the blog challenge here - TGIF Challenge Blog if you’d like to play along.

This card was another “quick and easy” one for me! I just picked a handful of different designer series papers that fit this week’s color combo and cut it into 1” strips. I then tore the ends of each strip and laid them next to one another.

Again with the splattering! It seems to be my new staple!!

Lucky for me I had some leftover branches cut using the Perfectly Pears Dies sitting on my desk - Very Vanilla - perfect!!!

Stamps: Perfectly Pears
Paper: Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Calypso Coral Two-Tone Cardstock, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Painterly Pears DSP, Gathering Together DSP, Vellum
Ink: Old Olive; Stampin’ Blends - Old Olive and Calypso Coral
Accessories: Perfectly Pears Dies, Pet Love Dies (small circle for sentiment), Streaked Dots, Linen Thread

Guess what??!? This weekend (Saturday, to be exact!) is the first training run of the season for my Huntsman Heroes Team!! I think we are only doing a couple of miles, but it will be GREAT to see the team again and get started for the year!

We’d love to have you play along!! You can check us out our blog HERE and Instagram … lots of great inspiration from the rest of the TGIF Crew!

Monday Montage - More Gathering Moments

Monday Montage … my favorite Mondays of every month!

I had such a crazy, busy weekend that I wasn’t sure where to squeeze in some crafty time … got up VERY early this morning to get it done!

Talk about your “quick and easy” card! This one is just that!!

I used this great plaid DSP from the Gathering Together pack of DSP and that is almost the trickiest thing I did for this!!

I cut one of the dies from some Early Espresso cardstock and just added a little bit of highlighting with my white gel pen.

A little bit of White Baker’s Twine for the bow and a few Low Profile Sparkle Dots and this was DONE!

This doesn’t happen very often for me (doing a relatively quick and easy card), so I’m taking it as a win!

Stamps: Gathering Moments
Paper: Basic White, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Gathering Together DSP
Ink: Versamark, White Gel Pen
Accessories: Gathering Moments Dies, White Baker’s Twine, Low Profile Sparkle Dots Basic White Embossing Powder

I need to take down my Halloween decor and put up some Thanksgiving stuff ASAP! The last three months of the year just FLY by, don’t they????
