Fishin' Wishes

Let me start off by saying that I don't really like Thomas Kinkade (is "hate" too strong of a word?). His art just kinda just doesn't do it for me (don't flame me ... I know there are a LOT of people who love him ... that is why the man is filthy stinkin' rich!).

Okay, now that I have done the disclaimer thing ... here is a card I made with a Thomas Kinkade stamp for today's sketch challenge over on SCS (SC297). The only way I like his images is if they are all monochromatic ... I guess that's just me. So that is where this came from.

Kind of a short post today. Gotta go and get ready to go stand in HOURS of lines to get my driver's license renewed ... JOY of JOYS!! Can't wait!!

Stamps: CHF Don't Get Much Better, SU Wonderfully Worn, SU Short & Sweet
Paper: Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Ink: Soft Suede
Accessories: Paper Distressing Tool, Small Oval Punch, Word Window Punch, Hodgepodge Hardware, Twill Tape, Cuttlebug Forest Branches Embossing Folder, Spiral Punch, Small Binder Clip

Wendy, you are not the Lone Ranger on the Thomas Kinkade thing, I don't like his stuff at all either! My MIL is crazy about it though. Lovely card regardless :)

I like your card, never thought to do his stamps monochromatic. They are just too busy if you try to color his images. Good job!

Hey Wendy~

The man is a very talented Christian artist...and you helped make him even richer with this stamp...as well as by promoting it. :) I love his work...when I am down, I sometimes imagine going into one of his cottages...using my imagination...where everything is pretty...usually the on in my foyer! ;)

I have never seen one of his paintings done in mono-chromatics before. I love the way you did this! And, I love the bg paper!
Gorgeous! Wonderful card, Wendy!

I need to get to the driver's license place soon, too. Did we miss your birthday? Or am I forgetting, that we remembered it?
Just tell me, when is it please? :D

He IS Able,

Love this!!! I have SU's "Fishin'" stamp that is so similar to this. My dad, 7 bros, hubby are die-hard fishermen!!! Didn't like the way I was using the stamp, no matter what I did....now I know what I'm going to do......right now!!!
Thanks for all your wonderful inspiration!!

I love this card and so wished I knew how you did it. I've got 2 of his stamps and for the life of me, I cannot get a clear/clean stamp. I've been ready to toss them because I couldn't get them to work....

Thanks for sharing your creativity

Such a great masculine card for Father's Day or Birthday. I love the stamp but not one of my favorite artists either. Although he brings such light;) to a painting. You'll have to watch the movie "The Christmas Cottage". A wonderful movie based on his life on how he got started.
