Fab Friday #138

Two dang days ... two WHOLE dang days!! That is how long I have been wiped out with whatever nasty thing that has camped itself in my head/sinuses!!! Isn't it AMAZING how quickly we forget how it feels to feel NOT sick??? Urrrggghh!!! Happily, I seem to be on the upswing. SUPER happy I was feeling well enough to stamp ... you KNOW you are sick when you can't even STAMP, right??? Glad to have the Fab Friday Stampin' Challenge to motivate me to get going!

Pretty in Pink!!! Anyone else remember this movie??? Oh man ... I DO!!! (Which, I am sure, ages me!) That's how this color combo makes me feel ... Pretty in Pink!!! I snuck a little Lovely Lipstick into this card, via the new grosgrain ribbon I just got. It's close enough to the Melon Mambo in the DSP that I used ... so I just slipped it in there!!

Stamps: Stitched All Around
Paper: Whisper White, Flirty Flamingo, Powder Pink, Garden Impressions DSP
Ink: Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo
Accessories: Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies, Stitched Labels Framelits Dies, Petal Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Lovely Lipstick Grosgrain Ribbon, Detailed Trio Punch

Pretty, pretty PINKS!

I plan to be TOTALLY WELL this weekend!!! BECAUSE ... I have NO training runs, no out-of-town plans, and NO big family get-togethers happening at my house!!! How AMAZING will that be???

Fab Friday #131

'Kay wait ... my body and mind have absolutely NO idea what time of year it is!!! We have had the most crazy and unseasonably temperate (aka dare I say WARM) winter all season. And then BAM!!! The last few days have been FA-REEEZ-ING!! Like HURT MY EYEBALLS cold!! I hope I don't end up getting sick now that my body temperature has been on such a roller coaster! At least I have been able to enjoy stamping in my nice CLEAN room!! I'm still pretty giddy about it!! So without further adieu, Welcome to Fab Friday!

During The Great CleanUp, I found my Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon!!! YAY!!! So I HAD to, of course, use some of it!! So here it is ...

Stamps: Colorful Season
Paper: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette
Ink: Melon Mambo
Accessories: Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon, Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies, Ovals Collection Framelits Dies, Pinewood Planks Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

I'm quite sure I kinda "over-embellished" myself ... but I think I still am close enough to the sketch, don't you??

Fab Friday #121

Another Fab Friday is upon us!!! WOOT!! WOOT!!! Not gonna lie ... I am SO READY for the weekend!!! And guess what else??? The temperatures outside have dropped into the 70's!! It feels MAGICAL!!! I swear this has been one of THE HOTTEST summers I can remember. And rain ... yes, rain!!! THAT is happening today as well!!! SOOOO excited!

So ... in honor of it being FRIDAY ... and in honor of it being AWESOME outside ... THIS CARD!!! I think I have maybe only used this stamp set ONCE (or maybe not even at ALL!)!! How SHAMEFUL!!! But it is PERFECT for today's sketch!! It's the first thing that popped into my mind when I laid eyes on our inspiration ...

Stamps: Marvellous Marquis
Paper: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories:  Soft Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Mini Treat Bag Thinlits (Star Border), 1/8" Silver Ribbon

LOTS of possibilities with this baby!

Fab Friday #111

Happy Fab Friday, my friends!!! I have spent SO much time in my car the past several days! My daughter lives almost an hour away. And trying to do weddings stuffs with someone who is an hour away is not always the easiest of things. So I drive ... and drive and drive and drive. Now I need a NAP!!!

Here's my card for this week's sketch challenge. I didn't even end up putting ANY stamped images on it ... not ONE!!! Truth be told, I had to pick my daughter up at the train station VERY early this morning ... and this card was something I did on the fly (code for "in a hurry"). I didn't feel like it needed an actual sentiment, anyway!

Stamps: NONE!
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Tasty Treats DSP
Ink: NONE!
Accessories: Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies, Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, White Jute Ribbon, Blushing Bride Sequin Trim

Pretty straight forward ...

Fab Friday #109

Wait a minute ... what day is it??? What MONTH is it?? How is it even POSSIBLE that I sneezed a couple of times and we are nearly into APRIL? And speaking of APRIL ... who ELSE is obsessed with watching that dang giraffe and her partner, Oliver, pace around their enclosures whilst waiting for her to pop out that baby giraffe???? She's gonna have it TOMORROW ... APRIL FOOL'S DAY ... just because her name is April ... and perhaps only FOOLS spent so much of their time watching live video of giraffes pooping ... but I digress

This card was so simple and fun! I LOVE this DSP!! Tasty Treats Specialty DSP! The photo isn't showing it well, but those cute little strawberries are EMBOSSED ... and SHINY! So cute!

Stamps: Designer Tee (SAB)
Paper: Whisper White, Tasty Treats DSP, 6x6 Glimmer Paper Assortment Pack, Whisper White
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Sealed With Love Embellishments, Pear Pizzazz Ribbon (long ago retired!)

I did this card in 15 minutes (which is something I NEVER do!)! This sketch was easy AND fun!

Fab Friday #107

The sun is shining ... and I can actually see BLUE sky!!! This is what I would REALLY call a FAB FRIDAY!!! And I haven't had a chance to make any cards for a little while, so it was fun playing with paper and such!!

We are in FULL WEDDING MODE at my house!!! Wedding dress, reception venue, invitations, bridesmaid dresses, suits, flowers, photographer ... we have something in the works for pretty much EVERY aspect of my daughter's upcoming wedding in May ... I just hope it all comes together smoothly.

I am loving the little "window cutouts" from the Window Box Thinlits dies. They are SO super cute!! And SO super FUN to use!!! I deviated slightly from the actual sketch ... but since these are put out there for our "inspiration", I just rolled with it!!

Stamps: Designer Tee (SAB)
Paper: Crumb Cake, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Party Animal DSP
Ink: Pacific Point
Accessories: Window Box Thinlits Dies, Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits Dies, Designer Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Stitched Shapes Framelits, 3/8" Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack (SAB), Project Life Corner Rounder Punch

See? I more or less stuck to it ... kinda ... more or less ...

I really need to clean my house and do laundry! Is that a thing??? I guess so!!! Too much running around happens too much of the time. I'm going to use wedding prep as my excuse for pretty much EVERYthing that is falling behind in my universe right now ... hahaha! Because I CAN!!

Fab Friday #99

How can it be that we are SOOOOCLOSE to doing Fab Friday Stampin' Challenge #100???? I honestly have not been able to figure out where time has been going lately ... as in the past 10 years, lately!!! WHOOSH!!! Right by me!!

And Monday is Halloween ... Really???? Can't believe that has come back around again, either!!! So on this challenge (see sketch below), I purposely tried to create a NON-Halloween card given that it's only three days away and it would be only TOO EASY to roll with Halloween, know what I mean???

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, So Saffron, Very Vanilla
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories:  Botanical Builders Framelits, Cableknit Dynamic TIEF, Square Punch, Burlap Ribbon, Gold Cord, Mini Stapler

Spooooooooooky and fun color combo!

My weekend is chock FULL of Halloween activities. Starting today ... this is about the 20th time (or so ... perhaps, 22nd?) that my friend and I have been in charge of the Halloween Carnival at the local elementary school. Food, cake walk, costume contest, trick or treating, spook alley, professional photos ... we seem to have this baby down to a SCIENCE. Saturday, our family will be doing the Annual Weixler Apple Pressing Day, as well as having a Trunk or Treating party at our church. And Sunday, after church, we will be having all our kids hanging out with us to have dinner and carve jack-o-lanterns ... it'll be EXHAUSTING, but SUCH a great time!

Fab Friday #96

No ... I did NOT fall off the planet ... I did NOT get eaten by a troll ... I did NOT quit blogging!!! Sheesh!! I really need to clean my craft room so that it will be easier and MORE FUN to create things!! Welcome to another edition of Fab Friday! We are on challenge #96 ... hard to believe we are this close to 100!!

I am feeling a bit of fall in the air. I am having THE hardest time letting go of summer. But, I do have to admit, that the smells and sights of fall are beginning to take over my brain. This card was a SUPER DUPER challenge for me. I really struggled with this color combo (which is why we call this a CHALLENGE, right???). In the end, I kinda like what I came up with, and had a chance to ink these pretty feathers for the first time!!

Stamps: Feather Together
Paper: Very Vanilla, Emerald Envy, Delightful Dijon
Ink: Emerald Envy, Delightful Dijon
Accessories: Gold Sequin Trim (SERIOUSLY??? This is the ONLY thing I used besides the stamp set and cardstock!!)

I challenge YOU!!!

Fab Friday #93

What a glorious Friday!!! It has been bone-scorching HOT here in Salt Lake City for the past couple of weeks ... up in the three-digit range, people!!! It's even been super hot at night. But ... HOORAY! ... it has cooled off a bit the last couple of days. Since we are just starting into August I expect that the higher temps are coming right back, but I'm happy with where they are right now!

Stamps: Foxy Friends, Sunshine Sayings
Paper: Very Vanilla, Peekaboo Peach, Early Espresso, Dapper Denim
Ink: Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Dapper Denim
Accessories: Ovals Framelits Dies, Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon, Burlap Ribbon, Mini Stapler, Word Window Punch (I know, it's retired ... it's still my fave!)

I PROMISE that I did NOT see Mindy's card before I set out to make mine ... (Great Minds ...)

My nephew married my daughter's BFF last week. It was a crazy, whirlwind of a week. The day turned out so very lovely ... the bride and groom looked so very happy ... and the auntie looked so very tired when it was all over (but blissfully contented!)!! Now if I could just get my daughter to pick a date ...

Smiley from Millan.NetIt's SOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOTTTT!!!! I'm MELTING!!! I'm MELTING!!! Whataworldwhataworld!!! Hahahaha!!! Maybe SOME of you will get that movie line/quote (hint-hint ... it's kinda where my blog got it's name!!)! We've been pushing 100 degree PLUS here in Salt Lake City every dang day!! So when I looked at this week's colors and saw CHRISTMAS in JULY ... I just wasn't feeling the vibe ... so I went with summer instead!!

Stamps: Fresh Fruit, Gorgeous Grunge
Paper: Very Vanilla, Garden Green, Real Red
Ink: Garden Green, Real Red, Wink of Stella
Accessories: Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, Squares Framelits, Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits, Silver Sequin Trim

Maybe I will go to the store and buy one of those kiddie pools ... and then fill it up with ICE and jump IN!!! Sheesh!!! I have a half marathon to run with my son on Monday (really excited about THAT!)!! I'm hoping that the fact that we are starting at 6:00 am up the canyon is going to help the temperature (it SHOULD!)!!

Fab Friday #91

I'm beginning to think I am forgetting how to stamp!! I have SO much new stuff to play with ... and have hardly done any stamping lately ... Fab Friday to the rescue!!! My whole day yesterday was kinda low key ... started out busy, though!

I ran my mom to get her hair done. After dropping her off, I went for a run. And for those of you who remember, I did a pretty good imitation of the "agony of defeat" for the old Wide World of Sports intro. I was WALKING up a hill and totally did a FACE PLANT!!! And I did NOT go down gracefully. I fought it every inch of the way ... I am quite sure it was comically spectacular (had anyone been there to see me do it!). So after picking my mom back up and taking her on a couple of errands, I went home and took a shower and bandaged myself up. Had to go BACK to my mom's to take her to a doctor's appointment ... and after we were all done I came back home and did the whole icing/ibuprofen routine ... and did a LOT of podcast listening ... and a LOT of Xfinity On Demand. I need a vacation!

I DID sit down to make this card ... I am SO in love with the Swirly Bird stamp set and thinlits ... LOVE them!! (I said that already, right???)

Stamps: Swirly Bird, Thoughtful Banners
Paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry
Accessories: Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, Burlap Ribbon, Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim, Duet Banner Punch

I sorta overdid this sketch ... I started and just couldn't stop!!

Fab Friday #90

Colors, colors, colors!!! I have so very MANY colors of cardstock (all the SU ones ... and more that I don't really need to mention!). I seem to get stuck on the same ol' colors time and again. Although I use ALL the colors in this week's Fab Friday Challenge, I don't typically use them all together!! And I made a point to try to NOT make this an "Independence Day" card. AND I played with some LOVELY new thinlits dies!!! Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Stamps: Flourishing Phrases, Timeless Textures
Paper: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Night of Navy
Accessories: Flourish Thinlits, Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits, Silver Sequin Trim

I feel like you could use this awesome color combo to make just about ANY kind of card (men, women, kids ... thank you, birthday, condolences). It's VERY versatile!

My daughter is going to be home in TWO WEEKS!!! She has been gone since the first week of June ... she is having some incredible adventures and been meeting some really wonderful people as she is working with a non-profit organization that does humanitarian work in Africa. I can't WAIT to see all the pictures she's taken and hear all of her stories. But mostly, I can't wait to hug her tight!!! Missing my girl!!! So proud of her, though ...

Fab Friday #89

I love weekends, don't you??? It seems that they are over before they even start, but I'm sure happy they come around!!! I missed the last Fab Friday challenge because I was still getting over jetlag and trying to get back into the swing of life. I LOVE the sketch we are sharing this week. I have SO many new toys to play with that I think I could use this sketch SEVERAL times and it would look different every time because of all the different styles of stuff I have!!! LOTS of stamp-y "playing" in my future!!

Stamps: Weather Together
Paper: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Gold Glimmer DSP
Ink: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: Umbrella Weather Framelits, Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, 5/8" Burlap Ribbon, Mini Stapler, Tags & Labels Framelits

See what I mean??? SOOO much potential in this sketch!!!

Since we are officially in "race" season, I am trying to take advantage of that. I have a half marathon this weekend ... it's actually the same race that I did as my very FIRST half marathon two years ago. I'm hoping to set a personal record on this one ... but even if I don't I will still enjoy it. After doing the Great Wall Marathon I feel like I don't have ANYthing to prove to myself! I am just going to enjoy the scenery (it's down Big Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake City).

Fab Friday #87

It has become (finally!) way-more-than-obvious to me that running and training for a marathon have taken over my life ... which is why my house is a mess, my laundry is behind and my craft room looks like a bomb blew up in it (again!)!!! NEXT WEEK!!! After NEXT WEEK I can sit and sit and sit ... and watch chick flicks ... and STAMP!!! Holy SMOKES!!! If it weren't for the challenges I participate in (like Fab Friday!) I may have fallen COMPLETELY off the crafty map by now!!

I had to push SO much stuff out of the way to create my card for today, based on the sketch challenge below. I still have SUCH a mess down there from making display samples for last MONTH'S OnStage event (NOT kidding!)!!! My goal is to get it cleared off before I leave for China ... crossing my fingers!!

Stamps: Moroccan Nights, Fabulous Flora (sentiment)
Paper: Whisper White, Rose Red, Sahara Sand, 2016-2018 In Color Designer DSP Stack
Ink: Dapper Denim, Rose Red, Sahara Sand
Accessories: Wink of Stella, Circles Framelits, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Square Punch, Blushing Bride Sequin Trim, Linen Thread, Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Project Life Corner Rounder Punch

Moroccan Nights!!! WAHOOO!!!! We received this stamp set last month at Stampin' Up's OnStage event. I seriously LOVELOVELOVE it!!! SO great for this sketch challenge!!

I'm in the "tapering" phase of my marathon training ... it feels so very WEIRD to be doing less than I have been ... I'm going to need EVERY last OUNCE of strength to conquer the Great Wall. Just the fact that I am attempting this is a win for me ... checking China off my bucket list next week!!

Fab Friday #86

My Bucket List Adventure is going to be happening in a couple of weeks ... it seems absolutely UN-RE-AL!  Between being extra busy at work and making sure that I am getting all of my marathon training done, I have had hardly ANY chance to do ANYthing fun!!!

So happy that today is Fab Friday and that I was "forced" to play with ink and stamps and stuff!!! I also need to get busy and get posting some more display samples I made for the OnStage Event a couple of weeks ago. I sleep, I work, I do laundry, I run, I climb stairs, I run, I run hills, and then I do some sort of cross training (hiking or elliptical training) and then I do all of those things again!!! This marathon is going to change my life (it already HAS) ... I'm excited, nervous, thrilled, scared and anxious!!! It was good for me to take a "break" and play a little with the color palette for this week's Fab Friday Challenge.

Stamps: Apple of My Eye, Work of Art
Paper: Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Crumb Cake
Ink: Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Wink of Stella
Accessories: 1 3/4" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Square Punch, Burlap Ribbon, Gold Sequin Trim, It's My Party Enamel Dots, Scoring Tool

This is a great neutral and versatile color combination ... can be feminine, masculine, for the grown ups or for the little ones.  I really LIKE it!

Fab Friday #84

As our seasons continue to transition from one to the other we are left in its wake to try to figure out how to dress every morning ... I have everything from capri pants and skirts on with sandals to full-length jeans with boots, socks and sweaters (not to mention the scarves to keep our necks warm!)!  I actually love spring rain (and snow!) ... the temps stay nice and low and are ideal for running/walking/hiking outside!!!

This card just makes me happy beCAUSE it looks like spring to me ... such a happy time of year with so much hope.  The flowers peeking their heads out in my yard and the yards of my neighbors sure do brighten our neighborhood!

Stamps: Hello Love
Paper: Calypso Coral, Pool Party, So Saffron, Whisper White (some retired Pool Party and So Saffron DSP)
Ink: Calypso Coral, Pool Party, So Saffron, Basic Black
Accessories: Tree Builder Punch, Circles Framelits Dies, Word Window Punch, Pool Party 1/4" Cotton Ribbon, Mini Stapler, Large Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Project Life Corner Rounder Punch, Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

I have ALWAYS loved this color combo together ... and I have used it many times!  It's fresh and clean and bright and fun!

Smiley from Millan.NetAs I am getting closer and closer to going to China to, a-hem, "run" a marathon on the Great Wall of China, I am not only getting more and more excited ... but more and more NERVOUS.  Today I ran three miles up to the University of Utah to their Behavioral Sciences Building ... it has 14 flights of stairs in there, people!! I have been struggling to find a place with a tall building where I would be allowed to run the stairs ... but as so many "skyscraper"-types of office buildings now have security in the lobbies and locks on their stairwells, I haven't been having much luck!!! Today I SCORED!!! So ... it was 14 flights UP to the top of the building (that's 250 steps for all y'all that want to know), which also means it is 14 flights DOWN those same 250 steps.  I did that go-round TEN times (yeah ... that basically means I went up and down 5,000 total steps!!)  Then I ran the three miles back to my house.  I guess the reason I'm telling you this (and it's NOT to brag!) is that I actually DID it (without falling, I might add) ... AND I felt pretty dang good afterwards ... not even sore as the day is closing and I'm sitting here typing my blog post.  I guess my friend who has also been my fantabulous running coach knows what in the heck she is doing!!! Thanks, Heather (and Norlando and Allie ... my cheering squad)!!! You are ze BEST!!! I'm starting to think maybe I WON'T die on the Great Wall of China ... I just hope I FINISH!!!!
