Cute and Simple - Trendy Trees!

There is a new thread that is posted over on Splitcoast every Sunday that started a few weeks ago. It is a thread where people can post links to their favorite "cute and simple" cards that they have seen during the previous week (they have had a "favorites thread forever, but this one is specifically for simpler cards).

I don't usually do "simple" . . . I guess I just have a hard time stopping, kwim? I always seem to think it needs just "one more thing."

Well, I was talking to my girlfriend on the phone last Friday while I was creating this card (how's THAT for multi-tasking??). It was for LSC208 - to use green somewhere/somehow in your card AND to limit the layers/embellishments.

I quite like how this turned out, but I can honestly say that I think it would be hard to make an UGLY card with this darling "Trendy Trees" set, as they are just so dang stinkin' cute, don't you think????

We have some fun things a-brewin' for the There She Goes design team this week. We will be featuring cards created with the sets that are going to be released on March 1, so come back and visit often this week (I will give you a clue that the sneak peeks will start showing up on Wednesday) . . .

Featured Stamper?? ME???!!!

Imagine my total amazement and giddiness when my good friend Kathy (hi-ya, girl!!) left a comment on here last night congratulating me for being picked as this week's Featured Stamper on SCS (#92 to be exact!)!! WOW-OH-WOW-OH-WOW!! Somebody PINCH ME!!! I am sooo tickled (man, I DO sound like my mom!! That's a word SHE would use!!)!! Seriously, I feel so totally honored and excited! How much fun it is going to be for me to check out all the lovely creations in the Featured Stamper gallery! Totally stoked doesn't even BEGIN to describe me!!

Here is a card I did for the Limited Supplies challenge (LSC193) on Friday. I totally loved the Snowfall and Snowfall Additions sets when I saw them last month on PTI for their new stamp release. I simply HAD to have them AND all four punches needed that coordinate with the images!! So this is REALLY an expensive card!! I got loved masking off the punched snowflakes and sponging around them. It reflects how I feel, too!!! BRRRRR is right!! It started snowing here already this week, so winter is definitely upon us!!!

I am having a hard time sleeping, as I am super happy about the FS thing! Better go and see if I can grab a few more minutes of shut-eye before I have to get up for real!!

Moving Right Along!

Can you believe I’m posting again already? I’m even surprising myself! I have been taking some “me” time and just been doing some stamping therapy . . . something I have been seriously in need of the last little while. So . . . here I am again!

I’m starting off today with this little “Boatloads” butterfly card. I’ve honestly had this set since it came out, only this is the first time I have used it. It is so darn cute! I coupled it with some of my favorite things . . . “Basket Full of Fun”, which in my opinion should never have been a hostess set, but rather one offered to everyone, AND my new Copic markers and airbrush system. This was really fun to make.

I cut a little cloud shape out of some paper and laid it down to airbrush the sky behind the little boat. I am soooo loving this tool! Great fun to play with. Plus, I fulfilled card #29 in my “Follow the Butterflies” challenge (see link on sidebar for details). I just discovered this week that I was off on my card count . . . somehow, a card I did last November was either not posted to my SCS gallery at all, or it was deleted. Not sure which. But, I have always used the gallery to help me count. For some reason I remembered that card the other day and realized I hadn’t seen it in my gallery. So I went and added it a couple of days ago. It’s not really my favorite, as I was doing it in a hurry, but I had to add it so I could keep track of what I have done!!

I did this one for CC157 – and I goofed! The challenge was to use Basic Black, Purely Pomegranate and Basic Gray. I must’ve been zonin’, ‘cause I ended us thinking it was Going Gray, which is what I used. I haven’t done a criss-cross card in a while (see TLC104 on SCS for details), so I really wanted to take a stab at this challenge again. I also love it when I can contain myself to one stamp set on a card, as I have been known to use up to SEVEN on the same card! I must be NUTS!!

Finally, this card was done when I was having a brain freeze. The whole time I was making this for SC167 I kept thinking, “Where in the heck am I GOING with this??” I still think it is kinda funky, but I have received a lot of comments on it, so I must be in a funk or something, ‘cause I’m still not quite sure about it. I used a blender pen and reinker to color around the outside edge of the large flower.

Ready for Round 2!!

I have been meaning to post this for the last couple of weeks, but life has been super crazy for me! I was director for a church Girl's Camp for a week (July 16-20), then I turned right around and headed out for Convention! Between getting ready for both events and finishing up the first round of SCS Sketch Challenge books, life has been a little TOO crazy! My friends and I already have a few requests for orders for round two, so we are gearing up to go again! These books were A LOT of work, but we have been really pleased with the outcome. This photo shows a bunch of the books that we completed, but several of them were already gone by the time this photo was taken! I am proudly displaying my own book in my craft room, as I can't believe we actually did it! If anyone is interested in getting one, we are still going to charge $49.95 (which I have decided is more of a bargain than we had originally thought!). SCS Sketch Challenge Books are Here!!

I kind of have a love/hate relationship with my computer . . . can't live with it, can't live without it! I will not bore y'all with details, but needless to say I killed not one but TWO computers last weekend (veerrrryyy looonnng story!) I've been dying to share something with you, and now that I have at least one working computer, here it is . . .

Remember a few months back when the Color Challenges on SCS reached 100? The prize for the 100th challenge was a lovely book that contained all 100 of the Color Challenges in it. My friends and I "ooohhed" and "aaaahhhed" over how neat it was. Then we got to thinking . . . wouldn't it be great to have a sketch challenge book with the first 100 sketches in it??? We promptly set the idea aside, as it was a little too overwhelming. Well, Shellee, Cheryl and I finally decided to jump in with both feet and make them. We were so pleased with how they were turning out that we decided that they were worth sharing. So, thanks to the creative genius of my dear friends (and a little input from me) here they are!!!
