Are Ya Ready? Parade of UnAward Winning Artisan Projects - Day 5

Well, here's the LAST of the cards I submitted ... I have to say that I really LOVE this one!! You can't really tell from the photo, but this whole darn neighborhood is paper pieced ... yup!!! My daughter counted all the little pieces in this backdrop and got up to sixty-somethin' ... not quite sure what number it was and I'm too lazy to count 'em myself!!

I started out stamping this on some watercolor paper and had decided to use my reinkers and blender pens to color it up (I'm pretty dang good at it!!). I had started to color, and because of the tightness in the spaces on the houses the shading wasn't coming out nearly like I had wanted ... AND the sky just turned out all gray and gloomy ... so instead of evoking something akin to "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" it just ended up lookin' like "The 'Hood!" Smiley from millan.net Not cheery and fun at ALL!! So I just decided to go for it and started stamping and cutting, stamping and cutting ... and this is what I came up with! It just makes me smile (too bad I didn't get to keep it 'cause I don't think I'm EVER gonna cut out all those little windows and window shades again .... maybe ....)

Now, go and take a little peeky at Jan's last card:

Wow... You paper pieced this whole thing?!? I'm impressed!! That's some dedication right there... That's the kind of project you do for Artisan Award, not for a Freaks swap. Can you imagine, having to paper piece this little thing 36 times?! Ouh la...

TFS!
Cindy

Oh, heavens! The patience you must have (or must have had!). But your efforts paid off in the sense that there's nothing depressing about this scene, even if it didn't win. TFS all your good works.

What an awesome card, and I think you've gotten right to the HEART of what that neighborhood wheel (and the All in the Family set) is all about!!! Too bad you can't get your entries back after Convention - you DO know that they'll all be on the display boards, don't you? The good thing about having this wonderful sharing on the blogs is that now we'll be able to POINT to these awesome creations and say to anyone and everybody nearby, "I know the person who made that card!" Doncha think that's better than just being totally anonymous??

Hugs,
Susan, aka Soozie4Him on SCS
