Cards That Make Ya Go OUCH!!

If you have been following my blog this past month you will know that I have been running-running-running ... river rafting/hiking, Stampin' Up Convention, Family Reunions and Trekking Across the Wyoming Wilderness. Through it all I have been healthy and injury free ... that is, until NOW!

Last Thursday I decided to tackle the MOUNTAIN of laundry that had been accumulating during all of my escapades (I DID do SOME laundry over the prior weeks, but mostly on an I-absolutely-have-NO-clean-underwear basis!). When I was bringing in several of the items I had taken outside to dry (I am the Queen of Drip Dry), I stubbed my two little toes on a footstool that was on my back porch. YEE-OUCH!!! When my next-to-smallest toe would not stop hurting, I figured I must have broken it ...

I was seriously gimpin' around for the next several hours. I went to my book group (have been a member for 19 years!) and had to leave a little early so that I could come home and make a card for the Free for All challenge on SCS (for which I was the hostess last Friday). As I was semi-frantically trying to limp around my craft table to make a sample, I smacked my toe AGAIN!! This time on a chair!! OHMYGOSH!! I made some VERY unnatural whimpery-squeaky noises (so much so that my son came running out of his room to see if I was okay). It makes my hair hurt just thinkin' about it!! If I wasn't sure I had broken my toe before, I MADE sure I got 'er done the second time around!! Sooooo, that is how this card came about (the challenge on this card was to make a get well/thinking of you card ... and then actually MAIL it or DELIVER it to someone!!).

I debated on whether I should show ya a pic of a my toe, but then decided against it. Suffice it to say that it has colors similar to my card ... purple and green ... happily, it seems to be felling a bit better today, so hopefully I will be able to walk around a bit better!!

OMG when I read the part about stubbing your toes the hair on my arm stood up, as we all know that feeling, but the second time... YIPES. I have to admit I was laughing out loud reading it though. You tell a great tale. The card beautiful, and I think you should mail it to yourself. Hope the toe is better.

I really like this card...but to tell the truth, I just don't "get" this ornate flower. It kinda looks like the artist tried to make a flower collage out of lots of different flowers and it's just not working for me at all....yet. Wish I could tell you what would help your broken toe...broke my little one about 10 years ago. Went to the ER after 3 days of agony, whose ER doc there wasn't anything they could do for a broken toe but to tape it to the one next to it. I have broken it several-to-many times since then. Now my little toe just feels like a toe with no bones, seriously. So I feel for ya...and don't do it again, because it gets worse with each break. BORING!! sorry. xoxox

I'm with the other ladies ~ I think you should mail this lovely card to yourself! It's beautiful, as is all of your work. I have to admit, even with the icky feeling in my stomach when you stubbed your toe the second time ~ I had to chuckle. Mostly because you tell your stories so well. Hope your toe feels better soon!

So sorry about the toe! Thank goodness that it didn't happen while you were conquering Wyoming LOL! I love the card -- especially love the detail of the embossed corner thingy (can't remember what you call those things at the moment because I'm over 50). Please do a minimum of walking today so you don't do any more damage!!!
Thanks for sharing your talent. I'm a faithful follower!

I totally have been there- and mine was broken because I finally went to the er. They don't do much except tape it securely to the next toe- and that really helped with the pain, so I suggest you try it. Good luck!

Oh Wendy,

I'll start with the card. I think it looks beautiful and elegant. The colors are so wonderful together! I really like the look of that pear pizazz! The ribbon is gorgeous! The stamp reminds me a bit of the "artichoke" stamp...a bit. I love the corners. You made this while you were in such pain? Oh, you are one...I'll get there one way or the other type of person...aren't you! Get 'er done!

About your toes, Sweetie...
Ice! Ice! Ice it! I'm sure you know that is good as anything for getting the swelling downIf you are allowed, some ibuprofen...if ok with doc...And, wear "Sensible Shoes," if you can wear any at all.

I'm sorry to hear about your pain. I will pray for them right away. Be sure to let me know when they are better, ok?

He IS Able,
Traci S.

Beautiful card, Wendy - I love the flower and the colour scheme, and the little photo corner.

So sorry to hear about your poor toe! I hope it gets better soon. Doing that is agony, isn't it. Take care of yourself now you are home again!

I am so sorry about your toe, I have broken mine twice and the pain is nothing you can explain, but there is nothing you can do for it, just keep it up. I guess inspiration for cards can come from anywhere, the card is really pretty and love the colors, not sure why the colors don't look as nice as a bruise. Take care of yourself.

Wendy,
Your cards are always precious but I'm sorry to hear about the toes. There's nothing really to do about them except let it heal but your humor sure was hysterical.
God Bless,
Jeanine aka Granny

Wendy, I can almost feel the pain!! I'm so sorry for you and your toes! How awful.

I love your card - it's one of my very favorite colors (the soft green) and oh-so elegant. Nice work!

Hope you heal fast!
