2008 Christmas Card

I FINALLY figured out what to do for a Christmas card this year! Hooray!!

The most shocking thing of all, though, is that I actually bought a Thomas Kinkade stamp. (I hate to admit it to all the Kinkade lovers out there, but I do NOT care for his art). I knew I was sunk as soon as I saw this AMAZING card by Dawn over on SCS (aka TreasureOiler). It's jaw-droppingly beautiful!!

Dawn's Cracked Cottage

I almost immediately headed on over to Cornish Heritage Farms and bought this image. I think doing these images monochromatically does them much more justice (at least in my mind)! I also got to use my Labels One dies from Spellbinders. LOVE the shape of these!!

Now I just have to make about 60 more of 'em . . . sigh . . .

Stamps: Stonehearth Hutch by Thomas Kinkade, Believe by PTI
Paper: Night of Navy, Shimmery White, Brushed Silver
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels One dies (S4161), Cuttlebug Snow Dots embossing folder, navy and shimmery white organza ribbon, large oval punch, Martha Stewart branch punch, pop up glue dots

Your post is too funny! I too don't really like Thomas Kinkade's art, and yet I purchased THREE of CHF's Kinkade stamps several months ago. Only one of them has seen ink and I wasn't the one who inked it! I agree on the monochromatic look being the best way to use them. You have to be REALLY good at coloring to get them to look right otherwise.

And I am very anxiously awaiting delivery of my Labels Nesties as I too LOVE that shape! They are due this week.

And finally, I have also recently 'decided' on my Christmas card layout and it involves a gold embossed Snow Swirled Christmas tree, mellow moss paper and ribbon, Ivory paper and a Cuttlebug folder - very similar in concept to your lovely creation!

Sorry for the novel, but there were too many similarities! Thanks for sharing your beautiful card. Mine's under wraps until they are finished and delivered!

Funny, I like Thomas Kinkade's art, but I have not really liked the stamps... to each their own I guess. Beautiful card!

I'm with you Wendy....Thomas Kinkade is just too precious for words and I don't like his stuff, but.....you are absoluely right...this card done in mono is lovely...I may try it someday but am surely glad that you did, and your recipients will be, as well.
